Our 2003 Grand Cherokee WJ Overland has a 2" OME springs and poly 1.5" spacers with 265/70/17 Firestone tires. Rides kinda stiff but it'svery stable which is a good trade off.

I have a 2005 Grand, 4.7L V8, 2.25" lift, 1.5" spacers, Baja Roof Rack, Ham Radio w/mag mount.

Next up is finding out how to fit a rear locker in the axle and rock rails for the sides, and skid plates.

Check out my other albums for more photos...

modelbuilder, check out www.4xguard.com for some of your WK stuff. I know a couple guys who run some of Russ's gear and are happy with it.

WJ's are solid rigs. I wouldn't hesitate to own one.

The 4.7 "semi-hemi" v8 Chrysler engine family are great (including the 3.7L v6). Anyone who thinks differently has never owned one. This is the WJ you want. Definitely avoid the 4.0 v6 / 42RLE combo. The 45RFE is a much better transmission.

I find the 3.7L to be thirsty and underpowered personally.

Compared to what?

When it debuted, it was a nice motor. Compared today to the Toyota or Nissan v6, it is not overwhelming.

It continues to be reliable. It's being phased out now in favor of the Phoenix line. Keep in mind, it was not updated when the 4.7 L received more power, less noise/vibration/harshness, and better mileage a few years ago because Chrysler couldn't afford to.

Of course I put 100k on a 3.4L Toyota v6 prior to this motor. It compares very favorably in mileage and has more power than the Toyota motor.

Yeah, I suppose it is a pretty old motor relatively speaking. I think the 3.7L in the new KK Liberty is a little better. Is that correct?

Not really. The changes have all been very minor. When the 4.7 v8 received upgrades, they didn't invest in the 3.7 little brother. The Pentastar (Phoenix) motors designed by Mercedes will replace all the current v6 line soon, so the investment in older motors was probably not worth it to them.

The KJ and base model pickups should eventually get a direct injection 3.6L Pentastar with around 270 hp @ 6,000 and 280 lb-ft @ 4,200.

Other than the normal stuff I've had to replace...either because of vehicle age...or operator error, my WJ continues to run well! Even after taking it up a trail I would never normally do had I known about hiw challenging (for me) it was! For me, it's a capable rig on the trail (for my comfort zone-overland trail style driving) and even more so when on the highway. For what it has, and what it can do...I'm very happy with mine!

I bought mine bone-stock with 85k on it...of course with high mileage comes the not-so-fun yet necessary repairs/maintenance...but after all that...mine is running strong...on & off road!

Nice rig! How much lift have you got on that? And what size wheels have you got?
