Go4Lo's 01' Tacoma Build

Nice build.

Did you have to trim any of the fender wells to fit the 33s?

Just the lower pinch weld at the back of the front fenders. Very simple trim job that can be done in about 30 mins. Also moved the rear axle forward 3/4" of Sky relocation plates.

Nice job G4L and a good looking truck -- well thought out and purposeful modifications.

I've been debating the U-bolt flip -- how did it go placing the shock mount tabs around the brake lines? Did you have any clearance issues; any other remarks/observations about this install? Thanks for your reply and any other pics of that install you can share.

Will do. I've been wanting to get up the Sylva area and run Caney Fork or out to Tellico again, if it ever reopens.

Not many updates to the truck over the past few weeks other than just changing the fluids and buying gas as it continues to creep up:mad:

We were able to get out last weekend on the NC beaches around Wilmington. My wife and I took the truck out at Ft. Fisher, NC for the afternoon. We couldn't have asked for a better day, the weather was perfect the was hardly anyone on the beach. The pic isn't the best, it was taken with my Storm.

Saturday afternoon/evening we were finally able to get out and do some real off roading with the truck. My best friend(ckale1) and I went to Uwharrie National Forest. We had intense rain during the day Friday and through the night but to our surprise the trails had drained really well and the conditions were about perfect. After running all of the most difficult trails we were on our way back in on a green trail when this happenend out of nowhere to ckale1's XJ:

Needless to say the trip ended really quickly after that! Fortunately we were able to get the XJ back on all fours and there were no injuries. After letting it sit for 20 mins and checking all fluids it fired right up and he was able to drive it home (gotta love the 4.0L). You can't really tell from the pic (again, taken with my Storm) but the passenger side "A" pillar took the brunt of the fall. It crushed in far enough to buckle the dash and crack the air vent on that side. There is a nice buckle in the roof and the body looks to be tweaked.

The crazy thing is they weren't doing anything stupid or crazy, they just picked a bad line and over she went. Hopefully, his insurance will total the vehicle out and he can buy it back for cheap and then buy another XJ with the remaining money to swap all the parts over too.
