speed and the JK electronic sway disconnect

I really like the pushbutton operation of the swaybar disconnect, but it's not without a glitch: over 10mph it tries to reconnect itself. If you find yourself driving moderately fast on corrugated roads or a gently rolling trail, you can start with it disconnected and know that it won't reconnect because the axle doesn't sit still long enough and the light just blinks at you on the dashboard.

I'm worried that this will damage the device, and also want to be able to arm/disarm the disconnect when I want to ... not some alert on speed! Has anyone found a clever way around this? It seems like it would be fairly easy to rewire with a toggle and a simple circuit. Does the motor just work on polarity reversal to engage/disengage?

cheers

It all goes through the computer. Currently, there isn't a way I know of to disarm that option short of putting the computer on a starscan and taking the electric sway bar option off and then rewiring a on off switch. You couldn't use the switch pod though because it's all one unit with the locker switches, so you would have to use a different switch.

thanks oz' - seems like the next step should be to unplug the bugger at the motor and hook a meter up to it to see what's going on while the stock switch is cycled.

I've been out for 2 ~ 3 day trips and haven't had any problems thus far, it just seems "bad" for some reason to blatantly abuse it as such
