Does anyone remember a VW back in the late 70's early 80's that had two engines?

I remember as a boy my dad showing me an article with an experimental VW. It was white and looked like a fox IIRC

There's a guy here in Portland that put 2 VR6's in his 83 Rabbit... It was a bit much but what en engineering marvel.
