I went out and bought everything I need to do my first oil change and when I crawled underneath to find the usually easy to find drain plug I found alot of humms? I'm not an idiot I swear....

Just in case, is there anything crazy I should know about changing the oil on an FjC?
Thanks gents
Russell

i'm not sure what you mean by humms but on my wife's fj there was a plastic plug in the skid plate that needed to be removed in order to get to the drain plug in the oil pan. it's there, you just have to look alittle bit.

i also bought a oil filter wrench that has 3 claws on it that you use with a ratchet. makes the filter removal much easier. hope this helps

On my '07 I start with a piece of vacuum hose taped into a water bottle, slip the hose on to the nipple under the oil filter cup so any oil spilled from the filter drains into the bottle.
Next as simple as it seems make sure its the oil pan you are draining. Some people have mistaken the transmission drain for the engine oil.
I buy Mobil 1 in a 5 qt bottle and dump it all in after draining and putting the plug & new filter back on
Other then that its same as any other oil change.

Thats what I was humming about, the tranny plug and where the heck was the oil plug. The filter drain is great, used a coffee can. Thanks again:victory:
