Shoe Creek in Crabtree Falls, VA

Shoe Creek trail(s) in Crabtree Falls, VA. Great run out w/ some of my brother's Jeepers. Even though I was still 4x2 I had no problem 99% of the day. One snaffu at the end but that was all self-inflicted (I REALLY wanted to get a shot of the X on this sweet, big-*** rock).

GREAT use of some ratchet straps and a Hi-Lift handle ---> trail modified tie rod!

I loved this rock. Ultimately caused me to be needed a winch out of that spot, but worth the pics.

There might be a really simple answer to this but why didn't you just put it into four wheel drive?

Put in a Titan diff and axles and suspension system up front, which gave me a new front diff ratio of 3.36. Rear still had 3.13. Dropping off tonight to be re-geared w/ a 3.36 R&P so I can have my 4x4 back. Just been driving around w/ front DS pulled for about 2 months.

I've been wanting to visit Crabtree Falls/Shoe Creek for a while. Are there any good camping spots around?

Hate to break it to you but those parts of the trail are on private property. Anything more than 2 feet off either side of the main trail belongs to private citizens. I have been up that trail more times than I can count but haven't been back since I found that out. It took all the fun out of it. Its a shame since I never did conquer "slick rock".

Yes, plenty of nice and open spot for camping. We were going to camp but decided not to kind of last minute.
