OME Driveshaft Packer Kit

Spacing the carrier is what worked for me. I used 1/16" gauge flat bar from Home Depot, stacked (3) until the shakes went away. A fourth induced a high speed vibe. If you have their springs, it may be just what the doctor ordered.

Mind your bolt length though if they don't give you new ones with the kit. I bought longer ones.

i went to a one-piece rear driveshaft on my old yota. it made all the difference.

i only had two u-joints to replace after that instead of 4 that i was constantly breaking.

you can use washers to space down the carrier bearing as well.

Installed dozens of them with good results. I'm also running the FK29 on my Tacoma, with the mod'd rear springs I needed a little relief on the carrier. For the $10 its a simple peace of mind.

Same as above. I run OME - Dakar CS046R Rear Leaf Springs; added a Dakar AAL 29XL. Pretty much a requirement to add the spacer with the added lift.

Thanks to everyone who has replied.

I'm not sure how i missed this thing. I've read plenty of threads on new shafts and shims, but somehow never saw this.

Kind of disappointing they don't give you new bolts.

Ill update this thread when I get one installed.

The FK29 does include new bolts. If yours were missing our out of package I would check with the retailer and see if they didn't accidentally forget them?

Your running the D29XL with the CS046? Did you re-drill the center pin hole or trim one end of the additional leaf? The D29XL is built for the longer CS047 (found in the 05-10' Tacoma) and is not a good fit imo for the CS046. Any pics of how it looks installed?

I think I am alone in this, but I have a 07 Tacoma and had vibration problems till I took out the OME driveshaft packer. Odd, I know. Things run smoother for me without it.

Hmmm... recommended by ARB tech for my year old flattened springs. We (Iron Pig Offroad) did re-drill the center pin hole and after that everything fit fine, no trimming required. The length of the spring looks like it was made to fit, IOW, all the leaves fit together symmetrically. A week after the install did about 4,500 miles and a week in Moab without any problems; rides well and gives me great flex. Since then have done about 3,000 more miles including offroad trips to Rausch Creek, PA, Callalantee, TN, and Goochland, VA. Also installed N76 shocks - swapped the original N85's for increased travel with the AAL. My experience has been good with this set-up, but I know your "Toyota-**** is strong." I can snap some pics this week - any particular view you'd like?

Cool, glad to hear its working nicely  No worries on the pics, with the center pin moved it would be a great fit, otherwise its hanging over one end or the other by several inches making for a sketchy looking install.

How much lift over stock do you have and how thick is the "driveshaft packer"? Odd name, In the absence of a photo, I'm assuming these are spacer blocks.

I have 1.75" lift in the back and 3/16" spacer under the carrier which puts the driveshafts on either side of the carrier parallel to each other.

Yes, carrier bearing spacer.

Standard OME kit. I think the back lift was 2.75," a little less with the weight of the topper. Do not remember thickness of spacer, but again standard OME kit. Tried going with a thicker spacer and that just made things much worse, finally just took the spacer out and than made things better. Not 100% better, but much better.
