TJ willy.... After reading this and looking at that Chart we need the 5.13's.

Cole has a good point and about OD and the Auto. The auto is much different gearing than the AX-15 I run with the 4.0L and 4.56 Gears.

call me later if you read this.

Yea guys, I think the majority of JK owners with the Auto go to 5:13's. It's been debated long and hard since the JK first came out and the winner has definately been the 5:13's.

Dont forget to get whatever method you think is best to set the tire and gear size in the computers. You want the trans to shift correctly based on whatever you do.

Mike that's what I'm seeing. I however run a YJ so its a bit different. TJ Willy is going with the AEV kit and TJ correct me if I'm wrong but it come with a calibration unit which is nice b/c you don't see any other lift manufactures sending one with there kits.

The AEV PREMIUM kits do come with the procal. You can buy one for like a 100 bones if you don't get it. It's awesome and you can get the "tire" size perfect in the computer if you use a GPS to fine tune. I installed a true set of 37's and I was still off by about 3MPH at 75. I ended up telling the computer I had 36.5" tires to make the speedometer and the GPS exact. That's just the way I am. :sombrero:

That's great Info! TJ and I both are running the Good year Kevlar 35" tires.

Yeah, decided on 5.13's though it was a little more due to weight and towing instead of OD... mainly b/c I did not think of that.

Yes, getting AEV Premium once springs come out of back order and the procal unit is included.

After speaking with Goodyear in Akron, they say the MTRs are a true 35" tire. Good idea, Mike, working with the GPS.

Have you thought about the size of the pinion gear teeth when you go to a 5.13. There is not much strength as the teeth are getting smaller ,, no meat to grab on too.

I had the same concern back with the 4.88's came out. I had good friend run 4.88 and 5.13's with out busting the pinion gear. Yes, there are cases out there that this has happen to so that arguement can be made both ways.

There is a 2 tooth count difference between the two gear sets on the ring gear. The pinion gear where most of the work is done has the same amount of teeth.

4.88s

Ring Gear Teeth: 39
Pinion Gear Teeth: 8

5.13s

Ring Gear Teeth: 41
Pinion Gear Teeth: 8

That isn't enough of a difference to end up with the wrong gears and with an automatic.

JK gears are MUCH different than any other D44. HUGE (nears D60) sized pinion bearings, super thick gears, and thick pinion gears.
