"Ultimate" dream list of trailer features?

When I had my 5th Wheeler...I made a brick "extension" on the top of my septic tank, removed the existing clean out lid, and covered it with a solid lid. The I added a pitched 40' 4" solid plastic pipe out to the driveway that lined up with the dump lever on the black water tank.

When I arrived home clean up and clean out were a snap! If I needed to dump the gray water I'd back up a couple of feet.

check out some of the stuff they have to get ideas

I like the idea of a large bed and being able to get into the trailer easy to get stuff without having to tilt the tent so if someone is napping etc.. it wont disturb them ?
so easy storage access without having to disturb other parts of the setup
also being able to get to stuff while inside the tent is nice

I like slide out kitchens but want mine to be able to be pulled out all the way and moved to a table etc... so this I will build custom

twin water tanks in case one gets contaminated etc..

one thing I like about our tent setup on our conqueror is that you can change etc.. inside the main tent part after climbing down which is very very handy with kids
I can get up turn on the buddy heater and in a few minutes the tent is toasty warm get the kids and wife up and dressed win warmth and comfort makes them like camping a whole lot more
also being able to have a PETT toilet inside if the little ones need to go in the night is handy

How do you know when a watertank has been contaminated? Funny smell or taste? Discoloured? Those would be the only way I could tell...
But, I think I would fill the holding tank prior to leaving on my trip, and that way be assured that I was using fresh/clean water since it came out of my home tap. I also think it would be a good idea to keep a smaller container of water for emergencies, something like a store bought 2 or 3 gallon water jug, or couple of 1 gallon jugs etc... Just keep the jug(s) tucked away in the corner your storage area.

As for the slide out kitchen...
I was thinking about tire carriers that are mounted on the rear bumpers of a lot of rigs. What if instead of a slide-out kitchen, you installed a swing-out instead? I doubt I will adequately describe what is in my mind's eye, but here goes:

You have a side box on the passenger side of the trailer, 4 or 5 feet long, and then 16"x16" for the width and depth. This box would separate and the outside long wall of the box would pull away as the whole assembly swung out, pivoting on a large spindle mounted at the front area.
The outside wall of the box is also the backsplash for the kitchen, and you could have a leg, or pair of legs for stability that would swing down and be hinged from the end of the kitchen that is opposite the trailer.
The box part that the kitchen swings into could have a lip bent up to make a mounting surface that the swing out part can contact with. And on this surface you could have foam or rubber padding to seal it against the elements. Several latches would be used to make sure that the outside wall would be secured tightly against the box.
The part that I'm thinking might cause problems is around the pivot point, and the outside wall section... There might be some interference between the piece that makes up the outside wall, and how does it rotate into the box when you open your kitchen?
Just thought it would be a neat and different design compared to the slide-in style.
Alternatively, and probably a lot easier to implement would be a flip-down kitchen. The outside wall of the box would be hinged at the bottom and when you unlatch it, just fold down like a p/u tailgate. A bit trickier to build the sink into though...

And accessing the gear inside the trailer while the tent is up.
I thought about keeping the roof solid and not have it open at all. The access for the main trailer compartment would be through the tailgate, and you could build an open topped box on slides that would pull out and you would have easy access to everything inside. This setup would add weight to the trailer though as you have essentially built a box inside of another box.
But, you'd never have to worry about disturbing someone in the tent by grabbing some gear.
You would have to make sure that wherever you parked the trailer, you had enough space to pull the drawer out of the rear.
Also, not sure how you would access the cargo area while you are IN the tent... I'm scratching my head on that one...

EDIT: Feel free to rip apart my ideas. :D

so I'd really like somebody to build an offroad trailer with a toilet you can get to and use without putting on shoes.
It's not visible in this picture, but my GF has set up her PETT inside on the floor of the tent.

AFAIK it paid for itself in her comfort on one trip. Though more expensive, I prefer the "WAG Bag" disposal system for our use. Check out CompactCamping's thread on a similar tent for the diy trailer builder. Last that I saw it did not have a floor, but that could be added afterwards if they have not.

I was not too keen on the idea of emptying into a toilet either. The trick I use is to empty it directly into my sewer clean out. Luckily I have one in the middle of driveway. Just find out where your outside clean out is and make it accessible. Since the cassette is sitting on the ground when you do this, you could easily do this with one hand. Then I just open the slide door once empty and rinse it with a hose and all goes down the drain.

Check your local ordinances on this. Where my mother lives this is illegal. I do not know why. By pure coincidence a clean-out was added during a remodel that works well for this when the Coach is parked in it's spot, and it can't be seen from the street.

This has been done to one degree or another, though not as grand as what you're envisioning. One example:

Do I recall correctly that the ex-EW now Hiscox Tacoma has a fold-down cooking surface on the inside of it's swing-away. I seem to recall that there is another Tacoma floating around here with something similar.
Hinge pin placement will determine if there is interference near fully closed or not. It will also determine if you simply compress the gasket on closing, or if it has to slide along the surface at closing.

I'll read through that thread that you linked.

And I guess if you placed the pin or spindle right against the outside wall that swung out, it wouldn't interfere much at all.
I originally thought that the pin would be centered within the floor of the box, no reason for that, just what I had envisioned...

I'm curious why it would be illegal? It's all going to same place it would if I emptied it in the toilet inside and flushed.

I have two clean outs in front of my house. One is just outside the front in a planting area and the other is right in the center of my concrete driveway with a screwed on brass access plate. I assumed that was built into the driveway like that so RV's could tie into it??

I'd hate to have to start cleaning my cassette out at 2:00 AM. LOL

Well. the neighbors better not confront me in my driveway when I have full cassette in my hands.
LOL!
I did ask her why, but she had no idea either. Conjecture: We're not qualified and might cause a spill? Considering my state's wanting to hold my hand and bill me for it attitude.....
