Exo cage + safari snorkel.

Two things in my buildup plans include an exo cage at the A-pillar(as a part of a larger cage system) and a safari snorkel.

Anyone have pics or an opinion of mounting the snorkel off the exo bar (which would need to have the same angle as the windshield) after welding the supplied bracket to it?

It would move your template forward about 3-4", as well as the corresponding hole in the fender, but I can't think of much else that would need to be changed?

thoughts?

Brian, i dont think that would work out very well. Spacing the Snorkel away from the fender/a-pillar would result in some serious work to the intake tube behind the fender as it runs paralell tight to the inner fender. Spacing it out would have the tube partially through the sheetmetal.

Was i clear enough? I could take a pic if it helps visualize.

Maybe opt for a cowl intake mod?

No, that's very much an obstacle I was visualizing, too.

Thanks for bringing it up...does that space grow smaller as it goes forward?

I'd keep the snorkel flush to the fender, just spaced away from the A-pillar. No fender bars. those will run outside of the fender and snorkel much like the ARB bars/roo bars from OZ(if I even run them)

I follow ya now.. just slide the unit forward.

Just went out and looked at mine, i dont see any issue other than a shorter tube and tighter bend in it where it snakes down, over and up into the the engine compartment at front of airbox.

ok, cool, yeah, just sliding it forward and replicating the mounting point on the tube somehow.

what do you think of the change in fender shape? the body line is straight which is nice, but the fender narrows a bit, maybe one wouldn't notice?

edit: and do you think the kit would allow for the deviation or would I have to source some custom parts?

thanks, brother.

I dont think you'd have issue with the fender.. the snorkel itself may may slightly rise on/above fender in front but not by much. I think you'd be good on the mounting studs also.

What material would you be using? 1.75"-2" tube? Might push the snorkel itself fwd a max of ~2.5" with gap between pillar and tube.

You might need to fab up a new bracket that would normally attach to a-pillar.

Yeah, I've got a lot of metal stock at my place for the bracket. I kinda figured on that.

The material would be either 1.75" or 1.5"

I'm picking up some JCR stage II rails this weekend, as well as ordering their quarter panel armor. (just getting the "flush with the taillight ones, not the full taillight boxes).

Those two items will be the basis for my exo for now. Gonna start with the A and D pillars, and then figure out the B and C pillar support system a bit down the line. C-pillar will likely be an internal load barrier system that is behind the rear seat and that bolts thru the roof.

Really like the idea of no tubes inside near anyone's head, and I really like the look of not having tubes outside near the fender line.
