Wheel and Tire Safety Issue

Saw this on another forum, and it's worth watching to learn about this issue. There's probably many of us that have or would use heat to loosen lug nuts, weld a wheel for a trail repair, etc. Or even the "explosive" tire bead seating trick could set off this reaction.

I guess the best way to put this in layman's terms, if you apply heat to a wheel, you could set off the tire "smouldering" and it could smoulder for quite some time before exploding. At the end of the video he mentions the "record" for a pyrolisys explosion at 22 hours. And in some cases, the tire exploded even though the valve core was removed.

I suppose this is the same process that makes out of control tire fires such a problem to extinguish -- the process is exothermic and doesn't appear to require oxygen.
