NICE!! Did you just do that outside taping off the tent and wheels, or something more extravagent? I need to paint mine, and bought some matched single stage auto paint, but I've never used something like this before and am wondering how much prep I need to go through for a trailer vs. a show piece.

Years ago I spent a lot of time sanding, hammering, bondoing and painting on a jeep I had, spent so much time trying to make the body and paint job perfect I didn't dare take the thing off the road. Decided to go a different route on this jeep and trailer, knocked the dents out, did a little bondo work and sanded it down with 220 grit, wiped it down with acetone then sprayed it with a good quality automotive primer from an aerosol can, lightly sanded again with 600 grit then painted it in the driveway, has to be done on a calm day and move your other cars to the neighbors house. Went to Jones Paint and Glass, bought some automotive paint and had them put it in an aerosol spray can with a hardener, actually 4 cans to be exact. The hardener makes it more difficult to paint, need to be careful of leaving dry looking areas (takes a little practice), but the stuff won't melt off the trailer if it comes in contact with gasoline and won't scratch easily. You only have about an hour or so to spray it but if you do your prep work first that's plenty of time. I painted another jeep about 2 years ago using this method and it still looks good, of course not show quality but that's not what I was going for. If it gets scratched up its easy and cheap to fix.

The RTT was not mounted yet so I just lifted it off but could have taped it off if necessary, covered the wheels with rags and started spraying.

One thing I've learned is the more time I spend trying for perfection the more I cringe at tree branches.

Got the tent bolted down and finaly opened it. I love the tent, lots of room, it is completely different from what I originaly envisioned I would be buying but my wife is happy so everyone else is happy.

I had to move the stove from the slide out kitchen for fear of burning the cover to the tent,GRRR.

I'm have a little difficulty figuring the poles out with this thing. Does anyone who owns a Serengeti have pics and instructions on where each colored pole goes? 4 Green, 4 Yellow, 2 white, 1 black and 2 with no color.

I really do like the tent and am anxious to get the rest of the trailer finished so I can get it out in the hills.

Forgot to post a couple of pics. The guy in the pic is Pearson, he rides a trike bike and cleans up weeds around town. He always stops buy to check on what I'm doing.

It has been quite some time since I have updated this thread, I never know how detailed to be when I make a post so I just waited until I was finished.

Originaly I was planning on putting the stove on the side slide but discovered when the tent was open the cover was very close, ended up moving it to the back slide next to the sink.

The ammo can mounted to the box on the front is where I keep the fuel line to transfer fuel from the trailer to the jeep. There is a larger fuel tank mounted where the original one was, it has a fuel pump hooked to it with the fuel line run to the ammo box.

I'm really pleased with the LED lights mounted on the outside and the small LED's mounted inside the tent and side door. They put out a lot of light with very small draw.

Decided to mount a couple 12v plugs on the side of the trailer where the tent folds out, the idea being I can plug a cell phone, gps, laptop in while camping.

Will probably end up changing the tongue jack as it hangs down a little too much - I drug it when I had the trailer hooked up to the Denali, GRRR.

I took the trailer over to my friends place (he is 94) so he could show it off to all his friends. He had a good time handing out ice cream and telling everyone about it.

I wish I had seen yours set up awhile ago, Fernando told me to cut my poles 12" longer than the height of the trailer, that was bad advice, my top wont pull tight now. This is the first time of setting the entire tent (fly) up and never could figure out where the short poles went, now I see after looking at yours.

I really like the tent (with the exception of the padding on the ladder-what a joke) however, the ability to get any information from Myway about setting it up is worse than pulling teeth. If I was selling a product I would make sure I knew everything I could about the product.

The idea of turning the fly around is intriguing, I will have to think about that the next time we set it up.

yeah my foam is done after 1 full season.. i need to address that,, but something else i did was to put some tennis balls on the feet of the ladder so that it will not wreck the floor.. when i set up camp, i still throw a tarp under the floor to protect it and a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet cut to fit inside.

Gas man, Thank YOU! It never crossed my mind to use tennis balls for the tent floor protectors. I just aquired some military cots that the feet were messed up on that will be the perfect fix.
