Well we were luckily enough to get a permit to run the Salt River Canyon in AZ this May, and it was an amazing trip. The group consisted of 14 good friends for five nights, 2 cat-rigs, 1 raft, 1 inflatable canoe and 5 duckies. Here are some photos.

It looks like you guys had fun! I wish I had 13 good friends that would want to do something like that. You guys eat the catfish you caught?

Yeah, it was hard to rally that many guy’s for one trip, but with the promise of beer, adventure, and good food we were able to talk them into taking some time off. :sombrero:

We didn’t eat any of the catfish on the trip but, we took some of them home for a fish fry.

Yeah we had great time.:victory: We put-in just North of Glob off the 60 and pulled out up stream from Roosevelt Lake off the 288. Here is a link to a pretty good river map: http://www.inaraft.com/map-salt-river-overview.php

Correct me, but you must of camp more then one day at the same place? Did you make the hike to Cibcue Falls along the way? Thats an action packed river at peak flow, nice with no more portage.:sombrero:

Was the line the tandem canoe took deliberate or accidental?

No, we did a deferent spot every night, the first night we had to deal with the shuttle before we camped by the put in. We also, had one or two short days on the river. The only hiking we did was over by Cherry Creek.

The flow was amazing! It was raining/ snowing the day before we put-in. I think it was running just under 5,000 CFM the first day but, it progressively dropped down after that.

It was more accidental then deliberate they almost did a 180 before entering the rapid.

That's what I thought. From the camera's point of view, it looked to me that the line left of the big pillow that the solo boats took was a better line. I thought the longer tandem boat got caught in the swirl moving out towards the pillow and couldn't recover. Yet they had a good run despite the unintended line.

I hope that you meant 5000 CFS. Something that is still on my bucket list.
