Help from the experts please

Can you guys take a look at this link and let me know what Gen. it is, if it looks like a good deal or not and your thoughts on it. I went and looked at it the other day, but knowing only Jeeps I really didn't know what to specifically look for on these. It appears to have what looks like 2" body lift, maybe 3". Anyhow, the link. Also, thanks in advance all.

Okay, now that I have full internet access I have discovereed that it is a Sport/Challenger/Prajado model. This one has the AWD/2WD/4WD transmission. Are there any bets that it has a rear locker by chance? I'm guessing not though. Like I said it has a body lift, but couldn't begin to tell you if it has a suspension lift. I'm just wondering if it is worth diving into for a weekend crawler/explorer with mild to moderate crawling duties as well. I'm hoping to go with 33" to 35" tires as well. Like I said, any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey krawler, this model is called Montero Sport in the U.S and Shogun/Pajero Sport overseas. I previously owned a 2000 Montero Sport and I must say I have had nothing but problems. I drove the MS for about 35,000 miles and had to change the breaks, had to change the rear right shock twice, had to change the upper steering coulombs, the alternator twice and many more. I spent approximetly $5000 in a year on fix costs. So if you are wanting to drive this vehicle for a long time go with something else like a Toyota 4 Runner. The Montero Sport broke down 3 times and left me stranded. the reliability is hideous. To answer your question the MS does not come with locking differentials. Or if you have the funds go with the 3rd Gen Montero(2001-2006). Since my MS was totaled I went with the Montero Limited due to the excellent reliability and Luxury Off-Road experience. I have been very very very happy with my buy so far. Good luck with your buy...

Wow sounds like he had a bad experience with his, but I'd say that his experience is abnormal. The Montero sport/Challenger is just as robust and reliable as any Japanese truck. Rear locker from the factory is not likely but possible, a quick VIN check with a dealer will tell you all the options that particular truck has. As far as off road duties, it should handle anything you can throw at it as long as you equip it for the task.
