Could be a great deal for someone. Verify it is in fact the latest offering (Simpson IIIB) to avoid any usability issues.

I was looking at this last week, it is relisted now according to my eBay account. It ended up bidding out at a little over $900. Don't know why its relisted.

Is ARB3101 the latest version Kurt? Guy is local to me. Google search on the part just comes up with ARB Simpson III.

What are the usability issues you refer too? If the price stays - this is just too killer a deal to pass up.

I think that they said they were a non-profit and had four of them donated so maybe selling them one at a time?

So anything shipped after Dec 05 should be the SIII after the fix?

Thanks

Theoretically yes, that is when the new IIIB's arrived in the US and we started getting them to replace III's. That said ARB might have had remaining stock or that outfit could have purchased them from someone with old stock. I know ARB was backordered on tents in the early spring so its guaranteed that all tents after that were the IIIB's. Clear as mud :D

Thank you Kurt, very much.

The photos do not show the boxes to be dirty at all, so I would think it likely that these are from the factory within the last year, but as you said they could have been donated due to getting rid of old stock. One never really knows.

Thanks a lot

Just following up with our PM, I just looked at the photos on the eBay site. The reason they show guylines is those particular photos are the older tent, the Simpson II. Those are stock photos from ARB so I wouldn't let that discourage you as their box is labeled ARB3101 which is the III. I would recommend you get them on the phone and ask them to figure out what they have for sale. IMO the IIIB is absolutely worth the wait or $$$ for the upgrades. :D

For anyone else wondering...

Simpson II

Simpson III (now replaced with the IIIB which is identical in appearance)

How will they be able to tell if it's the IIIB?

These guys are very close to me.

Kurt - your pm box is full. :Wow1:

Answer from seller regarding mfg date:

Q: Is there a manufacture date on the shipping boxes. ARB upgraded this model tent and there's no way to tell from just the item number. Thx!
A: The tent was manufactured and delived to the U.S. in May, 2010

From what you've posted - that should be the upgraded version right?

Thanks for all your info Kurt!
