Low volume sprayer/shower head?

Hi Gang,

I'm hoping the someone will be able to offer a good solution for me!
Currently we are using a surflo on demand 2.8 gpm pump with a standard sink sprayer for showering and with our limited water supply it uses too much. I was thinking that maybe a restrictor of some type would do the trick...
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated!

I was able to get mine down to .75gpm (I timed it!) by drilling a small hole (I want to say it was 1/16" or 5/64" hole?) in a penny and inserting it in the shower head I bought at Costco. A penny just happened to be the exact diameter I needed between the two rubber washers in the neck of the shower head. Works great with my 75psi AquaJet pump.

But the hole size is going to be related to your max pump PSI. Grab 10-cents worth of pennies, a 5-gallon bucket of water, a stopwatch, drill and bits and see how small a hole diameter you get to with your respective pump...

We have a shower mixer with an on/off on the head. That way you can manually control the water flow. You can see it here.

Thanks Mon:sombrero:

I was thinking of something like that...

Do you have any pictures of your rig that you would be willing to share?

Nice piece of kit.

I'm currently using a sink sprayer with a trigger similar to the unit that you sell, so I'm GTG there. I really like the integrated temp control on your offering!

Sure. I have a couple different pumps. This one is the FloJet...the Aquajet however is hard mounted in the Kimberley Kamper.

I use the FloJet with a kitchen faucet type sprayer from Home Depot when I'm solo, sans KK, in my Land Cruiser; this set-up also works great...simpler...cheaper.

Thanks Dan! That sprayer is a bit fancier than my plane Jane sink sprayer.

How about some more pictures of the rest of your truck/trailer:sombrero:

I like the penny trick

Fwiw we've been working on acutally finding a higher volume pump for our popular Helton kits, some want a higher performance than the built in pick-up/pump can offer. Best candidate this far is looking like this 1gpm AquaKing pump from Sureflow:

We'll be testing them more throughout the summer in combination with the Helton hot water and regular shower exchangers. Finding a balance between adequte flow and conserving water seems to be user specific but it doesn't hurt to have options.

Low pump pressure capability won't allow you to restrict the flow (relatively). The on/off works great on the showerhead pictured above in my set-up. Another option would be to incorporate a mini-ball valve near the shower head. Although more bulky and heavy it would certainly do the on/off job well...

But my other set-up using a Home Depot kitchen sprayer, same as Martyn mentioned, still allows for a nice shower with 1 to 1.5 gallons of water. And its simple and cheap.
