Lil Sport Trailer Build

I have one camping trip left before I have to pack it up for the football season. I have a lot of plans for the new trailer. First things first Ive named it the "Lil Sport" after My TJ sport. I am not very knowledgable when it comes to these type of things but I would like to learn. I am going to post up my planned modifications and see what suggestions i can get from you all.

1. New rims/tires
My jeep tj has 33 inch tires on it and the trailer has 31s. It sits prefectly level and looks good so no changes there. My question is this, id like to match the rims up to my jeep and put "better tires" on the trailer. How do I go about doing this?? Is it as simple as matching up the lugnuts? pattern? Im not sure. I want to save some money and ive found different rims on craigslist and im not sure if they are the right ones. Below is a picture of the tires/rims i have on there now. Any ideas?

2. Trailer Lid. I am debating whether or not to just take this to a metal fabricartor and have them make me a lid or just building one outta wood for half the price. I have no welding skills sooooooo not sure on this one. Anyone fab up lids on here??

3. Fenders. Id like to find some fenders that look like they belong on the trailer not something just htrown on there. I was thinkign of purchasing the same fenders as my jeep (bushwhackers) but they are too expensive nad wouldnt give full coverage. Any suggestions here?

4. Paint-Again im debating doingthis myself and getting it done proffesionally. There isnt a ton of body work that needs to be done , just some surface rust......... bondo? and sand? How can I match up the paint to my jeep? Want it to be exact. Do all of you paint with a rattle can? Primer? Any suggestions? Im going to rhinoline the bed itself.

5. Jacks-I am going to mount jacks to the underside of the trialer or directly to the side. Are there any mods you can do to these jacks without welding to make them longer? I also am going to replace the tounge jack in the front of the trailer cause i dont think itll hold when my fat *** is in the trailer

6. Electric, I wont be doing much primitive stuff but more campsite camping. Where do I start for the electric? Im going to need some music and an ac (daughter)

thanks for any help

1. New rims/tires
No pictures are showing up, but basically, you SHOULD be able to just match up the wheel studs. Other than that, you could possibly have a problem with backspacing, but it's doubtful that will make a difference.

2. Trailer Lid.
I fab'ed up my own lid out of wood and it was strong, but probably heavier than a metal one would have been, and it still had the down sides of wood. If I was going to fab up another, I'd do alum.

3. Fenders,
Pictures would be nice. I can't remember what your trailer looks like compared to all the others I drool over on this site. I don't know if full coverage is necessary, and I like matching equip between the tow vehicle and the trailer..

4. Paint-Again.
Paint is pretty easy if you don't need it to look good. Rattle can will do just barely alright. If you have a compressor, invest in a middle-line gun ($60) and take a trip to an automotive paint store. My color matched paint and hardner cost about $100.

5. Jacks-I
Only options I know of are weld-on.

6. Electric
To broad of a question, but it's all been covered in previous posts. Spend a few hours reading any post with "electric" in it.

Thanks

I appreciate your response.
Im prolyl gonna go with a wood top, not access to a metal fabrication place. Itll also prolly be cheaper.

I had another questions........Currently my trailer sits on 31s and the jeep is on 33s. The trailer sits pretty level and i like the look. I d like to have the same sized tires on the trailer as the jeep. How do i go about doign this while keeping it level with the jeep?

Keeping it level is should be relatively easy. Can't you just purchase a raise or drop hitch? If you have a pintle, you can buy one from Northern Tool.

Your jeep has 5 on 4.5 wheels. That is your lug pattern. You cam either switch hubs to match that or switch the entire axle. I got a new axle 3500 lbs shipped to my house for $130. Now my trailer uses the same bolt pattern as my Wrangler. Th euse 35 inch tires on jeep and 33 on trailer.

Fenders can be ordered on line. I went to a metal fab place and my fienders are ready to pickup today. they are 16 inches wide to completely cover my 12.5 inch wide tires. They cost me $200.

I painted my own but will take to bedliner place to spray interior bed with bedliner material.

My trailer is at fabricator right now and waiting on a price for a metal lid. Much strong and will last forever vs wood.

Any other questions just ask. People on this site helped me a ton on completing my trailer.

I'd like to know where your axle came from for my future trailer build?
