How are the drain plugs in yours, Dell? Mine are completely rotted, but I haven't found affordable replacements, yet. If you've got a source, would you mind sharing it?

Nice work...

Been following along and enjoying, Great work!
I have one question about the hinge thingies...The part you welded to the trailer hangs down an extra couple inches...is this for a future purpose or some specific reason? Curious...

...and I thank you for your compliment and curiosity

Been following along and enjoying, Great work!
I have one question about the hinge thingies...The part you welded to the trailer hangs down an extra couple inches...is this for a future purpose or some specific reason? Curious...

Started out with one idea... and ended with another.

The hinges come to order in either a 4" or 6" design...
I opted for the 6" because I couldn't get reliable measurements of these hinges when I was inquiring of them thru Northern Tool.
Come to find out later... the only differences of the two is that the 6" hinge has an 2" longer tongue length... aside from that the 4" and 6" are exactly the same. And so I could have used the 4" hinge and been fine with those.

but price was the same for either... so I decided... it's better to have a longer tongued hinge... and I could then cut off what I didn't need, when the time came.

But after mounting these... I decided to take advantage of the extra length of the tongues, rather then cut them off and make waste.

So somewhere down the line... I am thinking to make some sliders that will mount to the tabs and help protect the hinges from an eventual/possible flop or rock bashing.

Here's a crappy rendition of what I'm talking about using my fine msnpaint skills...

don't laugh... ~oh nevermind... I'd laugh too !~ :p

'least it gives you some idea as to what I'm talking about.

M100 Drawbar modification... extension

So here's a trial fitment for mating an 18" receiver tube to this M100's drawbars and casting. (it is an bolt on/off mod)

I used 1/4" plate, 2 5/8" H X 6" L to mate the 18" receiver tube to the drawbars and the casting.

The receiver tube was notched in at the end next to the casting... near about 5/32"
so as to move the weld just inboard of the drawbars stamped ends.
was welded inside and out... and then ground smooth so as to allow for the welding on of the fishplate (s). (not done yet)

The inside angles of the stamped drawbars are radiused and not 90*...
So the plate's height only goes to just before where the radius of the inside corners start to rise... I want the plate to sit flat...
centered properly... the inside radius angles hold the plate stock from shifting either up or down, when all the bolts are tightened.

At the moment... it sits about an 1/8" nose down...
But that'll change when I mount 'er to the truck with a little weight in 'er.
then I just need loosen the bolts a little... and she'll likely settle that 1/8"
If not... there ways to adjust that.

Front...

^ like to weld a perch here under the receiver tube and on the casting...
anyone have experience welding mild steel to cast ?

I'll gander to think... google has an answer.

looking forward alongside drawbars... L/R

~remember~
This is just a trial fitment...
the pate and tube will get fishplated on each side...
Right behind where the chain mounts are...
I'll be using 1/8" each side, for that... 'cause that's the max I can go, using my main bolt's length.
And I need that to space out the chains wedge mounts a little so that the chains hang free without contacting the tube's side.
should be strong enough.
Pics of that...

The rear bolts on the plate required longer a length.
Got those... and are shown in the last two pictures ^

The chains need to be extended...
I'd like to have them professionally done... hmmm

anyone know of a business here in SoCal that has a chain welder
(builds chain) ?

would be swell if ya do. :)

and the most important thing to note... a new cup holder !.. :p

I best get that hitch ordered up soon... :D

fish plate welded up...

and the extension reinstalled... yet again.
Guessing I got one last removal to go... for the painting.

(the welded on scab pieces were just to make sure heat didn't move anything)

Sierra 4X4 Trailer / Cuamco Max Coupler

Sierra4x4Trailers01.jpg

Because of my recent experience with Sierra 4X4 Trailers...

Just have to plug Chris Dickerson @ Sierra 4X4 Trailers/Cuamco Max Coupler

When shopping for my Cuamco Max Coupler... I found that Sierra 4X4 offered a lower price then any other competing business, that I could find, in my search.

$ 225. plus shipping

In talking with Chris @ Sierra 4X4, I felt that the customer relations was outstanding and Chris is a real nice person and pleasant to deal with over the phone.
(He actually takes the time to communicate with his customer's)

I was even somewhat critical of his website and it's lack of pictures of product, service and such...

Chris was very humble and considerate of my input... and stated, that he was working to improve the Sierra 4X4 website to better reflect his offered products and services...
My input don't really mean squat... But Chris's acceptance of my scrutiny showed that he has a real character about him and takes pride in his work and business.

I therefore offer a recommendation to all, whom are in the market for the Max Coupler. To give Chis a call @ Sierra 4X4 Trailers for a fair price and great customer service...

BTW... if you're in the market for a nicely built trailer... the Sierra 4X4 Trailer's should be added to your list of considerations.

Thanks a bunch Chris... very happy with my new coupler
:)
~ I could not believe how fast the shipment arrived !
A day before I was expecting... wow ! just awesome ~

And so... here's a few pictures of my new Cuamco Max Coupler ! :D

still a few loose ends to tie up...

ie: the spare tire mount...

because I ended up having an extra hinge...
I've decided to incorporate that into my ST mount...

The principal is to have the upright hinged, lockable with a pin in the upright position... so it can hinge forward and lay down and give access to the tie-down hooks on the trailer... as well as offering access to the backside of the wheel... where the lug nuts will secure the wheel to a center hub.
should make things somewhat easier to deal with.

meh... here's some pictures of the mock up...

I'm nearly sure it's going to work... :p

That should work! I think I'm just going to put mine on the back with a CJ3 bracket, and two propane canes on the a-frame to even out the weight.

Just a thought for your spare, since you are making it hinged...

Make a flat plate to bolt on the backside, so when it is foldd down you have table/bench space:ylsmoke:
