I had an 89 about 15 years ago. It had or about 6" of suspension lift with a 3" body. I toke off the body do to the height and body roll. After I toke off the body lift I still was had room to run the 35's BFG I had on it. I had the the same rims too.

Yeah I think I can still fit the 35s fine. These tires are Wildcat ATs and would actually be very good for snow and sand, just not so great for mud. I may could get by running 4.88s and keeping the tires for snow and sand trips. 4.88s would be good for 33s for normal driving.

I have plenty of clearance over the 35s:

I love these arctic 4x4s:

No worries man, your observations were all spot on about the truck. It needs a "dressing down" to make it right, but when I'm done hopefully it will be a nice camper rig.

I know your just glad to see I'm not in another XJ:smiley_drive:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Yeah maybe so eh ;)

Even thought we've never met in person, I con sider you to be an E-Friend of sorts mate. I always enjoy bantering back and forth with ya. Glad to see another Toyota in the stable.

Does this mean the 4Runner went Bye-Bye???

Frankly mate, whatever you want to drive, I'm just stoked for you to be out there enjoying your trucks and glad to have you on this board. You're a great guy who can differentiate between opinion and hostility and I like that. Always good to talk with ya mate. AS I said I'm excited to see what you do with this beaut, she sure looks to be in greaty shape for an old Toy eh. My rig needs a little attention in the cosmetics dept. but then I guess that's what happens to a rig that get's used like it's supposed to.

keep us updated brother, always great to hear from you. If you're ever in my area drop me a line and we'll go get out in the dirt. I'd love to show you around my home area and would drop what I was doing to help you out if I can in any way mate. Wow, that was one sappy post eh AHAHAHAHAHAHA Guess in our line of work you come to appreciate good people and life ingeneral eh.

Cheers

Dave

Edit: I know it's a matter of oppinion to some,(and I agree that the 35's would be great for snow and sand) but I thin k a pair of 35/10.50's Super Swamper SSR's or some 33/10.50 BFG KM2's would be AWESOME on that truck once the BL is off. It looks great from that other angle from the rear... Love it next to the Life wagon too mate ;) That truck looks GOOD, I just vastly prefer Tall SKINNY tires over floaters like those. Although I totoaly agree the Arctic Toyotas are AWESOME. but really where do we here in N.America get to use something like that. Still I'd never turn down an opertounity to rip one of those guys around some snowdrifts or the dunes eh .... YEEHAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think she's look really great with a Marlin rear-bumper with a mod-ed Swing-out carrier. I cannot say anough good stuff about my Marlin bumper. This weekend I SMASHED it into more then a few rocks and you cvouldn't even tell. (I have the DOM version -older gen_ with the fully integrated lateral braces... LOVE that bumper and can't wait to get the matching front one.

So one of my Aisin hubs needs to be rebuilt I found out today. I will be tackling that tomorrow. Also found a fellow with some 285 Toyo MT's who is looking to trade. Hopefully by next week I will have the bodylift off and the new rubber on.

Same here man, I think sometimes when I voice my opinion I may step on folks toes a little, but you have always taken it in stride. Iron sharpens iron and I have always enjoyed debating things with you.

Yes the 4runner is gone, along with the FJ62, and also my 93 pickup. I did make some cash off of all three of them though. My wife asked me if I would please keep this one for a while now.

Hijacking my own thread here but I may take you up on that sooner than later. We may be moving out West next year and I will be looking for some good trails and good people. Western Montana is in the cross hairs right now.

So I pulled apart the hub today and found a mess. It was very corroded in there and there wasn't an ounce of grease to be found. No wonder it wouldn't engage.

Here are a few pics:

After I got everything cleaned up and regreased I reassembled the hub and locked them down. 4x4 performed great! Now on to the next project. I will probably start a build thread since I intend to keep this truck for a while.

Bummer about the hub man. It amazes me what some people WON'T do to keep their truck running eh ... SCARRY!!!!! I can't even tell, is that an Asin manual hub or an Auto hub??? I litteraly can't tell from all the corosion and what not eh. Oh well, guess you found a problem and now you can fix it the right way and KNOW that it's not going to leave you stranded. Good luck on getting her fixed.

Sorry to hear the 4Runner and FJ62 are gone eh, but hey at least you've got a nice new tyoy tyo play with ;) I'm with the wife on this one mate. KEEP THIS ONE!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Like I said, drop me a line. W/Montana is awesome, I spent alot of time growing up in Helena and the surrounding wildernesss/mountians. Can't go wrong with that state IMO. Hell if you end up in Montana I might just have to come out and do some wheeling out there with YOU. Always down to help someone in need so if you do make it out west don't hesitate to ask if ya need anything. I truly enjoy talking with you too man. Lots of good people out there, but the Expo sure seems to have more of them then any other board I've ever been on. I feel like I have a ton of friends I've never even met eh HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Cheers and No Worries

Yeah it is an Aisin manual hub. It was locked up and you really couldnt see anything from all of the mess. It is good to go now though. I will probably rebuild the other side just for peace of mind.

I will definitely be keeping this one for a while, haha! I like this truck more and more everyday.

Helena MT is actually one of the places we are looking at! I will keep you informed, and we will definitely get together if we get out there!:victory:

Just a little update. I removed the body lift last week and traded the 35's for some 285 75 r16 Toyo MT's. I love these tires. They did great in the mountains this weekend and rode good on the interstate back home. They actually measure out to be 32x10.50 and the size is perfect.
