I like it.. My dad had a 77 GMC 3/4 ton pickup, pretty much like yours, and that was my all time FAVORITE truck... Glad to see someone outfitting it for expedition travel.

I have an 84 K5 Blazer. Gotta love old GM rigs. I am thinking of getting rid of it though for something a little more, capable. I am working on making it expo ready very slowly because if I do sell or trade it, I want to have the stuff ready for the new rig. As it sits now:

IMO your chasing a unicorn trying to find something more capable than a K5. Even stock, with sway bar disconnects they work well, and a locker in the back will make it great.

I loved the K5 I had, and should have kept it.

I like your old Chevy Zepset. I am driving an old 78 myself. Its a little rough around the edges but then I don't worry about dents in the bush. Also a nice pic of a K5 you posted Klakebronco. You can probably pick one up cheap somewhere. They are great machines.

Here is my '89. So far I've had a 2.5" lift installed with new tires, locked the front (rear was locked from the factory w/ Eaton), dual battery setup w/ isolator and blue top Optima, along with Ham radio, power to the rear for an ARB fridge/freezer, and HID bulbs in Hella 500 housings. Reliability upgrades include new soft brake lines, calipers, and pads, along with a new radiator, t-stat, transmission filter/gasket, and all new fluids. I love driving it, even though it only gets around 10 mpg :bike_rider:

Here is mine....Not a Blazer, but most mistake it for one due to the cab-hi topper. It is going through a NV4500 transmission and hydroboost brake swap at the moment.

Here's mine:

1976 Dodge W200 Powerwagon Crew Cab 4x4
440/727/205 drivetrain
D44HD front and D60 Rear with Detroit locker 4.10's
35x12.5R20 Toyo Open Country MT's
Inside is 2 big bench seats with custom center console/armrests.

I also have a 68' Alaskan 8ft NCO that I am in the process of restoring/renovating for the truck. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of it yet.

I enjoy the big block v8, the truck has loads of power and is surprisingly fast on the street, but one day I plan to repower the truck with a 12v cummins and an overdrive transmission.

Mine is in bits right now getting several upgrades. Getting a NV4500 to replace the SM465, Hydraulic clutch, hyroboost brakes, ZF Power steering pump, floorboard rust repair, Rhino lined interior, new instrument cluster and a more modern stereo.

I'll second that, I have a K5 diesel with a 700r4 and it is perhaps the best 4x4 I habe ever owned, it will go anywhere it will fit. The day I purchased it I drove just over 650 miles round trip to tow it home as a parts truck, but never cut it up, perfect for moving boats ect around the property, and climbing the hills, it will go just about anywhere my tractor will!
