First Bull

Last day of the hunt I managed to take this nice bull. It will be hard for me to top this guy. I'm flying because this was my first elk hunt and I was solo until some buddy's showed up to help me haul the big boy down the mountain.

I went out last year with a friend who pulled a black powder tag for one. We saw a herd run across the road in front of us not more than a mile from the line-of-legality ( ). 4 freezing days later we hadn't seen a single one... guess they won that round. :elkgrin:

We did get to see some beautiful country though (16A northwest from Payson).
