NATO Wolf Tubed vs Tubeless

Are there tubed and tubeless tires or can I just use a tubeless tire w/ a tube inside.

I can't believe how little I know about this subject.

bias ply tires use tubes. if you are going to run radials which have softer sidewalls running a tube will in large part negate the flex that makes a radial better.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not following why this would be true.

Thinking through it, the tube flexes and a radial sidewall flexes. Most bias ply tires get their rigidity from the sidewalls as opposed to the tubes.

I've never run tubes on my ANR4636s.

I know, you and a bunch of other people, have all said the same thing. I e-know you and Mark both well enough to fully trust your experience. I trust my friend too though, so I've been trying to reconcile the discrepancy all day.

The biggest issue with tubes in radial tubeless tires is that often people don't use tubes designed for radials and/or don't use plenty of tire talc. The radials get hotter and either the tube fails, if the wrong design, or sticks to the tire making it difficult to remove. It can actually tear when trying to remove because it's almost vulcanized to the tire.

I run the early rostyle steal wheels on my 2dr, technically they are a tube rim. I have run with and w/o tubes, using TSL 34x9.5x16 SS Super Swampers and currently 255/85R16 KMs. I spun a tire once w/o tubes on an off camber uphill section mostly due to not having checked the air pressure when I put them on the truck. (oops) the other 3 tires were between 6 and 12 psi. I had tubes put in when I had the KMs mounted, and got my first flat in less than 25 miles. I now have no tubes. There are tubes for bias ply and there are tubes for radials. The bias ply tubes don't work well with radials. I have not had a problem down to 14 psi w/o tubes.

The upshot is that running tubes in tubeless radials isn't a problem if you do it right. At least that's been my experience.
