Any pictures or info on how you mounted the gas shocks in the tubes of the rack??

on the facebook page there are images with descriptions. I used a 3/16" metal puck to connect the two gas springs to each other, the bottom spring is located using a hole in the lower slider, the upper is using a UHMW puck on the threaded end cut approximately to the ID of the upper tube. The puck, used, was drilled and tapped, quite a feat with the crappy taps I have. The gas springs thread into the puck, helping to locate and connect the springs.

If this doesn't answer your question, let me know and I'll answer specifics.

Thanks,

Jeremy

One more question. Are the gas struts 250 lb each? And how long are the? What do they extend to? Maybe a part number or something would help me out. Thanks

No, they total to about 250 combined force. I am using, 2 per corner, because I couldn't find 24" stroke gas springs that weren't hundreds of dollars, here is the break down:
Front corners:
Bottom: 75lbs
Top: 60lbs
Back corners:
Bottom: 50lbs
Top: 60lbs

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Remember that list of things to add to the trailer??? Well, we can check the Eezi-awn 1600 T-top off the list! Bought it last week!

neat concept... and follow thru...

But I'd want a lid incorporated with that, in so as, when in the down position...
would seal and cover the tub.

me thinks it'd be doable !?

lotta measuring tho' N beefier springs = mo $$$ !? :chef:

The lid will be separate. This way I'll be able to sleep with the tent up and the trailer secured. I'm going tailgate access only! Force me to install drawer slides to access all the gear... That'll be down the road a bit though.

I like the idea of a straight lift top, impress the ladies for sure!

Update:
I am currently in Delaware waiting for TitanPat to come on down here so we can meet up! The trailer made a shakedown run of 1200mi and is doing great. My only issues are light paint coverage... I didnt buy or spray enough, sadly. Because of that, I'm getting rusting under the round tube where it meets the sheet metal and around the tarp hooks, I did drive it through snowing salt covered roads, UGH, my freshly painted baby!! But, I knew it would need more coats later on after this trip. I routed all the wiring through the frame then set the tub on, severing all the trailer wires, shorting out my truck lights (irritating) 12hrs to wire a trailer is not right! I had to tighten up the Max Coupler after the drive as it seemed to be a little too loose for my likings. One of the hubs was luke warm to the touch as opposed to the other side which was cold, so I may go in and shoot some grease into the new Dexter axle.

All in all, I love the way it rolls, smooth as can be, takes a little getting used to not having the rear windshield to look out, but otherwise, I love it. I dropped it to go wheeling in NJ, super easy. I think thats about it. I'll try to get some more pics up for you guys as soon as possible.

Those are the lights from AT. Best price I could find and most non-descript to boot. If you go through the pics you may see a close up of the 3/4" hole made with a holesaw and the 3/16" tall section of tube welded on around the hole as protection. The grommets fit pretty tight as is on the tube, but for the wire to escape I used a grommet, water will get in, but hopefully will be able to drain or dry out. I have drain/weep holes on the bottom of the tube. also a good place to spray fogging oil to prevent rust.

To be totally honest, rust is my biggest irritant. Managing rust will be on going I'm sure. For example the rack slider tubes should be chrome plated for hardness and the inside of the larger rack tubes should be coated. I should've primed more tube as I was assembling and fabbing too.

Hope this helps.

Jeremy, are those the clearance lights from AT?

If not, where'd you get them.

Also, did you just drill a hole and pop them in? Any concerns about water getting in that square tubing?

Trailer looks great BTW. Can't wait till mine gets to that stage.
