Black Dog
Makin' Beer.
Well last night I hit my second deer in my jeep. My first deer I only knicked her and all it did was broke my turn signal and headlight bezel. This one is a different story though...
I had just left work at about 4:00 and was maybe a mile up the highway, on the right side is a steep bank down to the spillway of a dam with a guardrail. I had gotten up to about 60mph when out of nowhere this doe jumps over the guardrail and gave me about 10 feet of warning. I had just enough time to get my foot on the brake pedal but didn't get slowed down at all before my front drivers side corner hit her front left shoulder. She got knocked into the other lane and I came to a stop pretty quickly and went back to check the body. My first thought was "Mmm, deer tenderloin for dinner" but I was more worried about whether or not I was going to make it home, so I pulled the body off the road then went back to check the damage on the jeep. There was no smoke or steam and no fluid dripping so I figured it was fine to drive and it made it the rest of the way home. The only thing is when I turn the wheel to the right the tire rubs a little. The fender flare was still attached, I pulled it off at home to get a better look at the damage. All looks well, just cosmetic imperfects as far as I can tell. I'm going to use this as an excuse to buy a better bumper.
