Rear Axle Bearing Play?

I have a 2006 Rubicon with 52K miles and Alloy USA shafts. Should there be any IN/OUT play in the axle shaft with the retaining plate torque to spec? When I push and pull on the axle I can feel the slight bit of movement. I cannot make it clunk or anything like that by hand, but I can feel it give just a little. Is this normal? Could the Bearing Retainer Ring have slipped on the shaft?

I think the way a D44 retainer works, if it slipped on the shaft the shaft would just stick out further.

There will probably be some movement depending on how worn the bearings are. I remember there being a little on my 8.8 the last time I put it back together (super 88 btw).. now a D35 and stock 88 have a bunch of movement, but that's to be expected of those.

Also.. the last time I had bearing retainers pressed on it took nearly 30 tons of pressure to make it move. So.. imagine what you'd have to do to a jeep to move one.
