Still running stock gears?

Yes, stock gearing and it does pretty well, even with the 35's. Most folks who talk about how mandatory it is to regear do not have the benefit of the stock Rubicon gearing. I can cruise at 70 mph all day long around 2400 RPM, I can move smartly from light to light, and I can pull my light weight off road trailer with no problems at all. I've contemplated going to 4.88, but never felt a compelling need. My previous vehicle was a powerful Land Rover LR3, so it was a big adjustment getting used to the Jeep, and I wondered then if I "needed" to regear, but I've riden in many Jeep's since then (most were regeared), and have concluded that it's just not necessary, though there certainly would be no harm in it, other than a probable decrease in highway gas mileage.

I suppose it is a bit different at sea level, up here you would be hating life with stock gears.

I suppose that might be true. I've had this Jeep over 10,000 feet on several occasions, but always in 4 low on a trail using the 4:1 transfer case, it was definitely NOT a problem then, but street side in high range 2wd, you are quite likely to be correct.

Bump for a great rig. I've seen it in action a few times and it always lead the group home. Good luck with the sale bud.

If that were a 6speed, and cheaper, and I had already gotten rid of my other ride...I'd probably pick it up. :)

Sold pending funds. Pretty cool. The fellow is coming down from NorCal, and I'll meet him at Red Rock Canyon near Mojave. His "test drive" is going to be Last Chance Caynon. How cool is that!
