I recently sold my old 2004 Hemi 2500 Ram and purchased a "new to me" 97000km 2006 Ram 3500.
I truly loved my old truck but with the purchase of the new camper it was evident that family outings in the rockies would be severly curtailed at 8MPG as well as there the issue of the slipping transmission under load.
The old truck with the new camper in Mt Robson park on the way from Kelowna.
I ended up finding a very nice 06 Laramie Ram 3500 5.9 cummins. I wasn't looking for a loaded model but the amenities are nice. The previous owner has made a excel spreadsheet of all the maintenance and every issue that the truck had had since new!
I decided when I saw that that this was the truck --plus it was the same colour as the old truck so I might be able to slip it past the girlfriend without her noticing LOL.
Maintenance records-The PO had changed the oil in it 10 days before selling it. He ended up buying a new 2011 Cummins 3500 so he could pull his 5th wheel to Arizona this winter.

My current plans for the truck are to leave it mostly stock for now, however I have done some mods to make it more useful.
-Mopar Powerwagon flares
-Bestop Folding canopy-lightweight and folds to load dirtbikes etc.
-Retro solutions 55W HID headlight kit
I have sitting in the garage a Tracrite TL front locking diff that was destined for my old dodge truck as well as brand new Warn VR 12000. They will probably end up with this one.
I'll also be looking for something to replace the chrome potmetal step bars, probably N-fab bars-if they can't be strong they can at least tuck up out of the way.
As for Mods in the future as funds and time allows
-Carli front end kit (trackbar,BJ and high mount stab)
-Carli Backcountry kit (same as perf 2.0 but with Bilstein 5160's)
-LT285/70-17s
-EGT and boost guages
-Probably a ARB rear locker and compressor
-winch mount
-Airdog or FASS
-Yukon freespin kit-not sure about this one they`re big cash for a little protection.
-Skidplates
The engine is stock save for a S&B intake. It`s got more than adequate power for my use as well as gets an avg of 18mpg with equal city and hwy driving.
The camper is a Lance 825, Lance says it weighs 1700 empty, Transport Canada says this one weighs 2050 with options and propane but no water, I guesstimate loaded up its in the 23-2400 range.
Lance markets this camper towards short box half tons-I`m not sure which ones because there probably isn`t one on the market that can carry it safely-It really taxed my gas 2500 for weight and power, the diesel 3500 has no issues with it.:Wow1:
I`ll be adding crossbars for the roof rack so I can strap the kayaks down and I`m looking for a safer way to carry 2 scepter MWC and 2 MFC- they`re currently strapped down on the floor in the shower.
