Mine is set up with a Rubicon 3.5" lift which actually gave me about 4.25" lift. I run factory alloys and 33x10.50 AT's. I run these so the tuck under everything. I have done no cutting and have the slightest rubbing on LCA's at full turn. It is a '99 with the LP30 and Chrysler 8.25 with 3.55 gears. I have done the SYE kit.

I like the looks of that! 33/10.5 is a great size IMO for a xj

Jamie, go with a 4.5" lift and run the 33x10.5's. Get a longarm setup, add a bit of spacer if you need to. 5.5 would be about perfect.

Its an 01. Specs-
3.5 RE Superflex kit
Rough Country Long Arms
OME shocks
Longer rear shackles for the weight
DOM tie rod
Swapped in Dana 30 High pinion
4.56's
Lockright up front
ZJ rear disks
Rubicon Moab Wheels on 265/75/r16 Tread Wright at's
1000 other upgrades (Sliders, roll cage, bumpers, e fans)

This thing goes everywhere. Power is good with 32's and 4.56's, however the retreads are super heavy. (Wheel- tires are 79 lbs each)
My mpg sucks because of that, so I am getting different tires soon. Maybe 15 inch Ravine Wheels, with 33x10.50 KM2's- 67 lbs each

It is super reliable on the trail. I just did 3 different trails, Deer Valley, Slick Rock and Corral Hollow... I still havent fixed anything from that trip. It was 1000 miles round trip. (450 miles to the trail each way)

Still undecided, leaning towards the RE 3.5 with OME shocks. I picked up a set of Moabs with some 265 Duelers on them last night as well.

in my opinion 2-3" and 31's is the best budget minded set up. you dont need to gear for the 31's and 3" of lift is more then enough to get your jeep up most moderate trails. with that being said i've done both built and not so built. and i've enjoyed wheeling the most in my 1" lifted XJ on 235's.

Honestly a Jeep on 33's is the perfect setup. I have a 3.5" RE Lift and 31's and ive gone everywhere I've ever needed to but 33's keep calling my name
