ADVICE plz !

heey every one
this is my 1st post here! am am looking forward to learn from you guys,,
i have a little problem !
i have 85 4runner and am trying to swap a 1jz twin turbo into it ! :wings: am just wondering what kind of tranny should i use ! :confused:
bcoz you know the 1jz is 2x4 and i want it 4x4 ! so i need some recommendation about the kind of the tranny !?!
i'll post some photos for my yota as soon as i can...
and thanx in advance...

You might want to research which 4x4s used the 1JZ or 2JZ - I think the engine-trans bell housing bolt pattern between the 2 are the same, but don't know for certain. For example, on the Lexus side of things, the LX (Landcruiser) used a "JZ" engine and was 4wd, so the transmission and transfer case from that should bolt up. Now if, or how, it fits is another question entirely.

I believe the non turbo jz's used the r154 trannys. So if you got one of those bellhousings you could bolt it to a r150 4x4 tranny and transfer case. Now whether they used push or pull type clutch system, I do not know. But it must be compatible because this is a somewhat common swap. Some people even sold swap kits for this application.

Oops, nevermind. I was thinking of the "UZ" and had it in my mind you found a Toyota V8 twin turbo somewhere . . . wouldn't that be some kind of crazy?
