Has anyone put one in a Disco? I have done some research and found the Ram Mount amongst a few others . Plan on going offroad with it and already have my seperate GPS unit with bluetooth. Would love to see some pictures if you have and any tips you might have.

btw. did a search and did not find any specific info for the Disco that is why I am posting this here.

I do not have any photos handy, but I have this Jotto Desk model in my Discovery.

I've had it in my truck for at least 6 years and has held up to much abuse.

Good luck.

Those are definately nice. Bit pricey compared to the ram but also look a little beefier. How much off highway do you do?

That montero one looks like about 3 hours in the home depot. :D
Not a bad attempt but that velcro will not hold my laptop where I go off highway.

I've been running a RAM mount in my truck going on 4 years with no probems. I'm using a tablet pc so the weight is a bit less than a laptop so I'm sure that helps.
I don't have an actual picture of the mount unfortunately.

I'm pretty sure you can make one...Just spend time looking at Ideas and head down to home depot and create one.

This is mine in my D2, it's a Ram mount hybrid.... that is, I used different Ram mount series parts with a custom adaptor to get the top to swivel. I also made the floor plate as they don't do one for a D2. There is also a DC/DC converter under the passanger seat for power.

And I use an Itronix IX325 in the cradle :sombrero:

A) you'd be surprised how well that industrial velcro holds. I've got my CB mounted with it and it hasn't budged a millimeter.
B) you'd be surprised what you can whip up with 1/2" or 3/4" iron pipe from Home Depot.
C) I'd rather make my own totally custom and removable mount out of iron pipe than try to make something not designed for a Rover fit.
D) that dash mount is just obscene. He deserves a ticket and a ********** upside the head.

A) I agree. I was going to say, if that velcro won't hold, chances are the laptop wouldn't survive it anyway.
D) Again, I agree.

Black pipe computer mounts are akin to poop pipe snorkels, it might work but it's likely to be hideous.
With so many of the companies selling components it would be better to pry open your wallet, shop around and build something nice.
