When I purchased .....it was called "Cabin Hatch/Vent Trim Kit" @ West Marine. Pic of my order included below.
Doesn't seem to allow you to select as drop down currently @ West Marine. No pics on West Marine, it actually looks like the image I stole fm some random internet site copied below...
No, that got derailed for various issues, cost being one of them. Used the portable last fall and winter and it worked well enough, just clunky. still itching to install the espar for the coming winter, I'll post up if I do.
Hey that's my truck!! Well, at least what I want my truck to look like. Yeah- I'm going to copy you and go the same direction, thanks, looks great. I recently learned that I can't drop down to 17" wheels with the max tow package as the wheels wont fit with the larger rotors in the back, so I'll...
Nah, I'm new at all this so didn't think I'd have much to share.
It's a bit of a learning curve and expensive, but all things considered, definitely the direction I would go if I had to do it again.
I got a small free sample kit from 80-20 and it was helpful to see how everything came...
So much good feedback, appreciate you taking the time to write all that out!! Some more research to do. There is a custom spring shop that works with Deaver here in town and an overlanding vehicle outfitting shop, I'll float some of these thoughts by them.
.04 ABS sheet, available at big plastic supply houses like TAP plastics.
Pros- cheap, lightweight, easy to work with as can score with utility knife, accepts VHB/velcro well, durable doesn't scratch/dent/mar like E-PVC or corrugated plastic, thin and no problems with the bed slide, easy to...
Thanks man! It has been fun to watch your build come together.
Great thing about these campers is how awesome they are with no build or total build. I somewhat miss the days of throwing all the dirty stuff in the back and hosing the thing out, but we are certainly enjoying the amenities and...
Thank you, super helpful! Thanks for taking the time to post that. I'm definitely new to all this vehicle stuff, my adventuring has always been self propelled.
I'm 10speed w/ 3.5ecoboost with I think the 3.73s? (maybe 3.55s), can't say the truck notices the camper weight much so I'm thinking...
Pretty content with the build out, and getting plenty of use this spring and summer. Thanks to all for the postings, I'll add some pics in case helpful to those still planning.
Few questions for those more knowledgable:
1) suspension upgrade
Currently stock F150, . Fully loaded I'm right...
Interesting tests.
We have and OVRLND camper, so similar style.
Mostly using a propane stove
Intrigued by induction, but I think our electrical setup is borderline at 200ah, 1000w inverter, max discharge 100a battery. I have no real need to upgrade just for induction. Also nice to have the...
That is a clever solution for the fuel tank. I've been trying to figure out where to mount and how to fill, I'll have to take another look down by that wheel wheel. thanks again for the pictures, that rig should serve someone well!
Nice build. I would have purchased this a year ago, ended up with a very similar set up.
Love to hear/see more regarding your heater and tank solution if you are so inclined.
GLWS
I'm about to do the same, except Espar vs Webasto only because I happen to live close to a very knowledgable Espar dealer/installer. Don't want to carry propane tank, rules out the truma.
I keep going back and forth on 2kw vs 4kw. I'm concerned that the 4kw version may be too much with mild...
