Excatly correct. GX470 can barely fit 285/70 which is 32.6-32.8 depending on make. My tire is 33.1 so almost for sure I cant make it. Would have to compress it!
Totally agree. Thats why im saying apples to apples if the AT3 for him was really louder than the ST maxx and RT then something is wrong IMO. Both of those tires objectively should be less loud based on what the manufacture says. Also some tires just are unlucko, we see this all the time with...
Yeah but look at the pics in the application, those aren't meant to squeeze the tire into a space it wouldnt fit without the strap. This is what I meant by OP I assume that was clear to most people. Strapping a tire is fine, having a tire that would not fit but you are deflating and then...
Yeah I totally get it, im not saying you're intentionally lying, but your experience is clearly a fluke or since this is a very subjective thing, maybe at that period of time you felt it was really loud but it actually wasn't.. IDK. The RT and the AT3 are both Toyo.. they have their own rating...
Also, if I cant find a 255/80, I can certainly find a 32" tire or a 285/70 - as far as GX being full time 4x4, which would be more ideal? A 32" tire with a bunch of 33" tires or a 32.7" tire with 11.4" width vs 10" width. I would think the smaller tire is better. over the 285/70.
FB groups go back and forth, some say itll ruin the tire and others say it doesnt matter. Ive found theres lots of truly experienced people here, thought Id see what people think.
Im trying to find a used tire to put under there so I dont care if the tire gets ruined but 255/80 is not a common...
Seems like some of the larger sizes are 3 ply, my E rated are 2 ply - Mine arent mounted tho - consideration I wasnt thinking of cause I am in Socal, lots of rocks, maybe I do need to consider something like ST maxxs
This legit makes no sense. Theres no way the AT3 should be louder than the ST maxx. Obviously nothing is apples to apples when it comes to aggressive vs noise as we have MTs that are not as loud as hybrids etc but this makes no sense to me nor does it reflect what others are saying.
Its interesting that a lot of long time experienced guys refer to 255/80 (the size he has) as a 10.5" wide wheel when in fact its 10" which is narrower than stock on all Lexus and Toyota platforms. GX, Tacoma, 4runner FJ.
I have found several people online when doing my research on 255/80 over...
Thanks man. Leaning heavily towards this. Do you know if your buddy needed to do a BMC? I doubt it. Is he running spacers?
Right now im trying to find the answer to whether I can run 17x8.5 -12 offset with 255/80 without a BMC. (Im fine with eventually getting a BMC but I have 2 trips coming up...
Ok I cant really choose a tire, just a rambling and hopefully someone can convince me of something.
I originally wanted the Kendas no questions asked when most places on the internet claim they are 52-52lbs, but they are really 61.5lbs and thats a big jump from the stock 38lbs. That alone puts...
