Growing up in northern Arizona I had a passion (maybe a slight obsession) for horses and this was my gateway into what has now been coined as “overlanding” I guess you could say horses were the original overland vehicle. I liked to explore, and a horse offered me a way to go further than I could on foot.
As I got older I became intrigued with traveling via 4x4 as horses require a lot of work, time money, and the logistics of traveling horseback are daunting - while vehicle travel was much more versatile. I fell into the world of vehicle dependent travel. I worked for a magazine, where I was fortunate to have opportunities to grow my driving skills, and do a lot of vehicle based trips, even having the chance to take part in the worldwide E7 Expedition. I have an NPTC certification for winching, offroad driving and instruction and have been teaching at Overland Expo for the last four years where I especially enjoy teaching women’s classes. Right now I live and travel out of a 95 Land Cruiser FZJ80 with my husband and we go wherever the wind takes us (currently South America).
