Another cool truck we can’t have

I think not having much in the way of emissions or safety requirements has to help - not to mention many utility vehicles like that are not at all designed for the way vehicles are used in the US - I doubt its much fun to do a 6 hours highway drive in.

    GM 2028 EV Suburban

Guessing it'll be very similar to the Escalade iQ, hopefully including the big ass battery. Not gonna be cheap .. .but a lot of commenters apparently haven't priced out gas Suburbans recently either. A Z71 Suburban starts at $85k.

Is Your GM Truck or SUV “Spying” On You?

The decision by many OEM's not to support CarPlay comes down to exactly this - they've realized how valuable the data they can collect on you is, and they want to profit from it, not Apple or Google. GM, Tesla, Rivian and others

    Soft shackles?

Check out Brennan's Garage - he's a smart guy working out of his garage making some innovative products at what I think are super fair prices. He's also on this forum under the screen name Metcalf

Return to White Mountain California and Lake Sabrina July 2024

Great photos and write up! A fun variation is to make the drive from Badwater basin, past Ubehebe crater and up Wyman Creek Road up to Barcroft station on the one day its open to the public - Lowest to highest point you can drive to in CA, mostly all doable on dirt.

2nd Gen Tundra and FWC Hawk-Suspension

I ran the following on my 2012 Tundra Double Cab 6.5' bed, with FWC Hawk. Generally happy with the ride and performance on an off road, if anything it could have used better shocks. Truck was on 285/75R17 tires (small 34") Bilstein 5100 shcoks with front spring perch at the middle setting ICON...

    Inside/outside gear storage case recommendations?

ebay can be a good source for used Pelican or similar cases. I've looked into Hardigg cases in the past, even more bomb-proof than Pelican and dont have the name recognition so can sometimes find surplus or used ones at a good deal. I settled on a much cheaper used Yakima roof box that I use...

R1T, that’s watts up. Our new beginning

Great to read about your experiences traveling and charging so far. I grew up in the PNW and try to make it back there as much as I can. Have you used any campsite charging? I've been curious about this as an option, although my preference isn't to camp with a bunch of big RV's generally. I've...

Can you drive a Cybertruck or a Tesla to Burning man?

Seems like these guys missed a good opportunity for EV charging on the playa https://www.theverge.com/23945289/rebelle-rally-ev-green-energy-hydrogen-motorsports

Scheel Mann Vario XL seats in the Equipt 200 Series Land Cruiser

I came across what seemed like a pretty detailed youtube video covering the install into a FJ cruiser, I'd imagine much of the electrical work would be applicable? Been researching a seat upgrade for my 2010 GX460 - I find the stock seats really uncomfortable.

    While on vacation......

To be clear - my experience using the ID4 for a year has convinced me I don't need the 2nd car to be gas either. Our longer trips tend to be either up the coast (Ventura to Monterey - 274 miles - would stop to charge once, probably in SLO at the airport where we like to get lunch anyways) or up...

    While on vacation......

I'm chiming in just to offer my experiences as someone who replaced a Subaru Outback with a EV (VW ID.4) recently. For OUR USE the change has been awesome and we have no regrets or complaints. Neither of us has long commutes - my wife does about 30 miles a day and I drive 20-30 miles a day. We...

Trying to figure out which trailer to buy - Family of 4

I guess they're on the more soft-road than off-road end of things, but I've been looking at the A-Liner Expedition and Taxa Mantis as options for my family of 4. The Taxa has a really neat bench seat that converts to a bunk for kids that I wish more mfg's would copy.
