I scored a Katadyn filter set at a market stall; it was one of those buys where I knew what I was looking at, the seller sort of knew what they had and the price was very much right. I love the water we get from it (we use it when backpacking). The nice thing with the Katadyn is that it screws...
3500kg is the cut off for a car licence in the UK and EU, so they would have built to that. Anymore than that and it's a C1 licence (upto 7500kg) commercial licence. There is also some bits and pieces around payload that then makes it dual purpose or commercial (which has been highlighted in...
Interesting the comment on it being classed as a commercial vehicle in the UK; that's been done so that emissions are less of a burden and means they don't need to worry about whole fleet emissions (think CAFE standard is the equivalent in the USA) . Has turned round and bit them as it's now...
VM at first in the XJ Cherokee (as did Land Rover with the RRC in the 1980s), and then 5 or 6 cylinder Mercedes in the time of Daimler-Chrysler for the WJ/WK. Not sure who they're using now.

Pretty much bare bones petrol (not a fan of modern diesels really), cloth interior (heated seats though - it was frosty here this morning and it's cold enough that it's 8am and the dogs still haven't got up...)
The balancing act for the safety nanny is reaching the required safety requirements for a vehicle to be used in a fleet where the requirements are 5* ANCAP (Australia) or EuroNCAP (Europe). To achieve these standards there are things like occupied seat alerts (visual and audio when seatbelt not...
Well, this was one of those posts that cost me money.. I hate camping with out washing (a swim is enough) but we've got a couple of winter camps (3*C overnight is probable at some of them so the water night be cold or we're camping where there is no river).
I'd looked at the Companion heaters...
Some interesting bits from Autocar on the potential expansion of the Ineos range (which it will need to do to bring down the fleet average fuel usage)

Interestingly it's still used in the same context in British English in a semi-formal manner. In English it's used to describe that something can be one thing but also used as a another, normally with only a small change.
Apart from bigots, racists and sexists. I think society has on the whole decided they aren't needed, and many place tell them they aren't welcome in civil society.
p.s. I recognise that avatar and user name from another forum - that one is much more welcoming to all people in their offtopic...
As others have said, please do updates!
I was (in a sad way) excited to see an update on the thread - also wasn't disappointed in that whilst no new photos, the conversation was interesting anyway.
More pictures please!

Combination of sticky hook and loops and gravity; in the Commmodore it's sticky tabs (that have lost most of their sticky) and in the 80 it's gravity and the shape of the dash that hold it in place so it doesn't move (plus any junk on there - wife's glasses case for example).
That's a standard (nothing special) dash mat; we have them in both the 80 series and the Commodore ute (Pontiac G8 equivalent I think). They tend to be something that would work as the loop side of the hook and loop fastener
Reading the description it states "Ideal for use with a dash mat, the...
