I’d see it as able to run the other things and recharge a bit if I was on a three or 5 day hike away from the van plus a recharge if it sat in the AZ sun for the weeks between trips? Just an added boost not base power.

I tried to do what you are thinking about 4 years ago and finally in frustration I went the same route as the Gentleman mep1811. It has worked well. I usually download a bunch of Topo maps prior to really remote trips. It works well.

Yes PVC pipe gets soft and deforms not really melted. The black corrugated/silver pipe they come with is fine. The heater’s housing must be made of something with a higher melting temp?
