This 2002 4Runner spent much of it’s life in the dry Sonoran Desert where even bare metal doesn’t rust. It was used as the daily driver by a member of the family that has owned it since new in 2002. There are 244K miles on it. It has had rigorous maintenance preformed since new. It was also used on the desert roads around our vacation home but never used off road or for crawling. The winch is a recent addition. I lead natural history trips across the Camino del Diablo and needed a no compromise reliable vehicle to camp with. It has a sleeping platform and drawer storage for trips up to about a week in length. It has a bit of lift to clear anything a road might present to you. Good suspension that has proven to be “just right.” The tires are Pirelli Scorpions with better than 1/2 tread left. The timing belt is good with the origional marks on it as you can see. The frame is great as is the body. It has leather seats and steering wheel, origional mats with a small wear in the drivers heel spot. I have done some recent mechanical work and it was just NH inspected. It has a new windshield, battery, alternator, radiator/oil cooler, and anything else it might need AFAIK. This 4Runner was garaged each summer in AZ and parked in shade for much of the winter so there is no sun scald. The bumpers were done by RPM Fabrication in Chandler, AZ and the winch is a 10K lb Smittybilt that has seen almost no use. The winch has wired remote and works wirelessly as well. It has some pinion noise but has not changed for 100K miles.
It just returned to NH pulling our lightweight Casita trailer. It is rated to tow 5,000 lbs. but the trailer weighs only 1/2 that. Normally I get 22+ mpg and on the trip I averaged 15+. This vehicle starts, runs, and drives like new, and I do remember what it was like when it was new. It burns no oil and when the next oil and filter change is due the oil is still clean. This 3.4 V6 automatic drivetrain is noted for it's longevity and reliability. I trusted it to cross the country last month and to overland one of the most remote roads in N. America many times. I have considered keeping it but I have a 2001 Tacoma with 256,000 miles that runs and drives as nice and I have no dry and secure storage for the 4Runner.
Come and look and if you are interested we can take it for a test drive. Reasonable offers will be considered. PM me. I will not ship and am only willing to do a local sale closing at a bank. Sorry if that cannot work for you. I am in the lakes region of NH and this would be a great time of year to fly in, hike in the white mountains and drive home. Title in hand of course. It is for sale locally so I reserve the right to sell it unannounced.

244K miles, if it was less I’d ask more! I’m on a forum for Casita Trailers and a poster there has the same rig- 2002 4Runner and 2003 Casita trailer he full times in. I asked him if I ought to think twice before pulling it cross country and he told me his 4Runner has 425K trouble free miles on it and he travels all across the country living where he drives! Those stories are all over the internet and having had this in our family since new I hope it goes as far for someone! My 2001 Tacoma with the same drivetrain has 256K and I plan to keep it for the duration. Thanks for noticing my omission.

Sold the 4Runner to a committed 3rd Gen owner. We are both happy. I do have a tinge of seller’s remorse. I’ll never find as nice a replacement.
