Unicorn on the Ocean - 1120AF Coming to Canada

Just caught up on this one! You’ve been busy! It was a good call of your fathers to move that hydraulic tank, as I was going to suggest the same when I saw it. 😊

Ex army trucks - Are they worth it?

There’s a lot of good input into this thread. I think the OP might have hung his hat up and left a day after his last post though sadly.

Building a Dream - "Gimli II" (MB 1225 AF)

Hello! Great truck you have, and with the V8. They’re thirsty but they sound nice. So, what are ‘synchronised injectors’. I’ve been in the Agricultural Engineering industry for many years and never heard that term before. So, Subframe or Rail on Rail… Having used our truck off road as a flat...

    Mercedes manual transmission S6-65 (718.441)

We have the same issue with our 1222A. Flat out at 90 kmh. We are looking at two options.. A ZF 10 speed or an Alison auto which I’m told has a double overdrive top gear which would give us an extra 20kmh.

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

Hello all! So We’ve been off the radar for a while now, but back in South Australia for a few months. Our time was spent working on our Series 2 Land Rover’s in the hopes of taking it with us for this next 18 month stint. Well, the rolling chassis, Tdi engine, 5 speed, power steering etc is all...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

Hello! Just spotted this... a year later! The internals are a work in progress but usable! The bathroom, bedroom and shower and all externals are finished. The kitchen and living is perfectly usable, but needs the flooring laying, the overhead cupboards finishing and the 4 cheap plastic office...

    SK1824 Maintenance and Repairs

Hello! How's the truck progressing. I picked up on a couple of things. On the 3rd picture you posted, you have labelled one large nut & bolt 'Fill port'..... The fill port and level port are the one you have labelled in the second picture that are on the tin cover on the front of the diff. The...

Unicorn on the Ocean - 1120AF Coming to Canada

Hello! What a clean tidy & cool truck you've managed to find! As other's have said, that larger cab is brilliant and something we'd have loved on ours! I wouldn't rush to extend the chassis, because the longer the chassis, the more work the subframe has to do. I built a rear bumper and spare...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

On our way back we had another look at the progress on the new Fitzroy Crossing bridge! Wow those guys worked well! We saw it a month before it opened! An incredible amount of work in 6 months! It opened a month later in December while we were in the UK. This last pic is a hidden gem...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

With the tour season over we then had the opportunity to return to Purnululu to look after one of the Wilderness Lodges in there for a month. It felt very different doing the journey in our own truck! It was fantastic having the lodge to ourselves! It was soooo quiet!! By now the temps...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

Once back in the North West we set about preparing for the 2023 season! The bikes are our main mode of transport in and around Broome! The start of the 2023 season was an interesting one. The Kimberley had just had the wettest wet season in 50 years, and there was so much rain that the...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

So I've been a little quiet for a while. As always there's other things going on! Since we last spoke, we've completed another season in the Kimberley with APT and managed to go to the UK for a Christmas catch up with family! This time though we have rented our house out and became full time...

1990s MB truck owners. Looking for some details!!

Late arrival here as I've not been here for months! Did you get any closer to making a decision? We run a 1995 Mercedes 1222A here in Australia. It's the 11 lt V6 OM 441Naturally Asmatic engine coupled to a 6 speed gearbox. We have a 2 speed transfer box and lockable axles front and rear. It's 1...

    Improving headlight options.

Hello! By the sounds of it, lighting laws might be a little stricter with you than here in Oz. We have a limit on the number of light pairs we can have forward facing which is 6. I looked into upgrading the original Mercedes candles, and other than adding aftermarket globes/bulbs (thanks for...
