I'm always happy to answer questions. My challenges is doing it in a timely manner as internet access is always seems to be limited. Uh-Oh about Lake Titicaca. Been doing a little research on that and was looking forward to it

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Thailand Since we were unable to bring our camper into Thailand but were so close, we decided to fly into Bangkok from Malaysia to hit a few highlights. We had never been to Thailand and had heard only positive things about visiting. It felt odd to be donning backpacks and getting on a plane...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Good question! Yes definitely we enjoy going back. However in Malaysia's case it's been 30 years since we've been there. So it's almost like visiting it for the first time as things have changed so much. In general though we seem to always want to push our boundaries and go to new places.

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Malaysia Our driving route through Malaysia Malaysia was another country we had visited in the past - although it was almost thirty years aga. At that time we were focused on getting out to the islands for jungle hikes, scuba diving and beach time with our then 3 and 5 year old sons. This...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Yes we did. It would have solved the problem with the Tacoma but ensuring that the camper was transported safely weighed heavily in our minds.

Tibet and China - Part 3 And then we sadly left Tibet behind and entered Yunnan. We felt the cultural shift immediately, the way people looked and dressed, the architecture and the shops. The mountains gradually disappeared. Because when in China . . . Traveling in China was challenging for...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

China is definitely trying hard to crush the Tibetan culture and turn the people into "proper" Han Chinese. It was hard to stomach. Hopefully they will endure and outlast this current regime

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Tibet and China - Part 2 It was common for young tourists to dress in traditional clothing and take pictures around the old town centers throughout China. Western social media platforms are banned in China (we used a VPN to access Instagram, Whatsapp and Facebook) but there are plenty of...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

All foreign vehicles entering Thailand must get a foreign vehicle permit which usually costs between 200 to 600 USD. Thailand has had a law for several years not allowing foreign camper vehicles to get an FVP, which effectively bans them from entering. However, until this spring it has not...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Talk about good timing. Below is a photo of our truck just about to enter China from Nepal. Notice the bridge that we're on is seemingly solidly made with concrete. A month later after some severe rains the bridge is gone This is the only border crossing that foreigners are allowed to...
