You are absolutely right about the window height in TCs. Compromises.
I am enjoying your build and the design decisions. With a cabinetmaking and GC background, I'd love to build one out, but that would cut into our travels.
BTW, we picked up our F450 a couple of weeks ago. Moding it for our...
Those films might protect the acrylic plastic as well. We certainly have the whole Baja pinstripe thing down and acrylic window would have taken a beating on our rig.
I contacted Founders. The steel wheels are $858. The Hutchinson aluminum wheels are around $1623. Plus shipping. The gentleman I email with says they've mounted 285s on their wheels.
If you go with their MT or AT tire they say you have to lift the truck 2.5" and cut away a little of the fender...
Not to highjack this thread, but it is traveling and overlanding related. It's also related to Allyson's new rig. Here is a forum thread from Ford Truck Enthusiasts about CP4s, DPKs, and DCRs. A really interesting read for those of us with 6.7 Power Strokes...
We have a '15 F350 with the 6.7, 185k miles. Haven't had an issue with the CP4. A neighbor has 287k miles. No CP4 issues. YMMV Our diesel mechanic for the past 15 years says all of the CP4 he's replaced have been due to DEG added to the fuel tank.
We use Optilube diesel additive to lube the...
Hey PNy and andy_b thanks for you input on these threads. I have question.....how high was the the flatbed over the stock PU bed height? I heard CM is about 4-5" higher than stock.
We have a hard side TC and height is critical to get it in our garage door.
Interesting topic for me since I'm sort of going down the same rabbit hole.
This might seem dumb, but on DRW, could one put on longer studs and say a 1/2" or more spacer to reduce tire rubbing if the tires are aired down? I realize from comments above this is a rarity.
One sees lifted DRW with...
"How many summers do you have left?" I read that recently. We've put off the AK trip for two summers. We're not look forward to the fuel expense, but we're going.
I've enjoyed your build thread a lot. I'd love to do it myself. However, it will take too much time away from our travel plans. My...
Just out of curiosity, what are the dimensions of the camper box? What do the panels themselves weight? And finally, how high is the sub-frame from the ground?
This is a great build thread.
