    1990 Montero V8 project

Been silly busy with non Montero things like my kids cars, house AC and helping others with their stuff. Haven't had much time to work on this but a couple weeks ago I did manage to clean and paint my modifications and drop my engine in for hopefully the last time. I now need to fit the...

    is 4x4wire gone?

Yeah, let me see if I can get the guys to commit to some dates and I'll post it up. I'm assuming you've got lockers, gears and armor? Dusy is no joke.

    is 4x4wire gone?

Funny you'd ask, we are planning on going to Colorado but there's been interest in doing Dusy Ershim (Southern Sierras) this summer.

My exhaust work isn't pretty like @brentonodon but I got my Y pipe mostly done, I made a collector to go from two tight stacked 2" pipes to one 2.5" pipe but I still need to trim the pipes even and weld that and the flange on. Removed the battery box for easier firewall access and it'll be...

    Project Brento-Box

    Excellent work!

    1990 Montero V8 project

The test fit revealed that my exhaust manifolds were going to interfere with the firewall and put me in a difficult spot along the frame to build the Y pipe off of. So, I cut both sides at the second to last primary and rotated the last pipe downward and that gave me just enough space. I then...

    Toasty's '98 Montero Build

Ha ha, yeah. I thought so too, my friend who is helping me hasn't had time for us to work on it. I did however make some pretty big leaps on my other one (1990 Montero) That one is actually at my house and I've done A LOT more to it. It's not as close to being finished but will probably be on...

    1990 Montero V8 project

2UZ is all refreshed and dropped in, I need to trim the rear of my new engine mount brackets to clear the shock towers. Right now the engine sits way too far forward, I also had to trim off the exhaust flanges from the headers to clear the frame. This engine is certainly heavier than the 1UZ so...

I agree but I also live in a sunny state so, gloom is rare and makes me want to get out on the trail.

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K... Finally started working on a website, let's see if I follow this through 😅

    1990 Montero V8 project

Because this truck is turning out super nice and because I didn't already have enough to do, I pulled the 300k mile 1UZ VVT-i drivetrain in favor of a 130k mile 2UZ VVT-i that's also 8 years newer AND it's already 4WD so no adapter needed. I'll be running a Toyota transfer case now. Simplified...

    The old 1999 build thread

The mud inside was like grease and now it's everywhere, probably the worst thing about the damage. The door cave in shattered the glass, ruined the regulator and broke the door card, I had to fix the door a little bit to get me by until I could find a new door. Amazingly, after a little work...

    The old 1999 build thread

A few months ago I slid into a DEEP mud hole, made for a really slow tip. I did manage to find a boulder in the he with my passenger door and it got crushed pretty good. The worst thing was that since this was just an easy little trail I didn't have my fridge strapped in, so it fell into the...

1979 L200 (Plymouth Arrow Sport truck)

Sold this hog, went to a really good home with a Mighty Max Enthusiast. Got it running and driving pretty well and it really just didn't fit my fleet. Ever searching for that perfect combo of vehicles 🤣. I'll miss it.
