Thanks for the links. The hidden winch mount looks like a good bet. I'd like to use the Badlands winch from Harbor Freight. I had a 12K winch on my Suburban and that winch was a powerhouse.
Good call on the LX470. I have a '99 and love it. I bought mine last summer. No major mods except for some Goodyear Duratracs. I'm with the others on the AHC, it works quite well when maintained. In fact I'm going to do an AHC fluid flush and fill this spring. The 100 series are not fuel...
I bought a '99 LX470 back in August. Not the best fuel mileage, but it sure is capable off road in its stock condition. I've found the the AHC to be really handy and there is a vid on youtube on how to flush that system with new fluid. The whole process takes maybe an hour tops. I am in the...
What options are there that don't require you signing off your "soul" to purchase? Are there any weld together bumpers for these Land Cruisers out there that are good quality? I'd like to put a winch bumper on eventually after I finish my 72 Chevy project. A rear tire/gas can carrier would be...

Hi all,
Been a while. I sold the Suburbillac project off about 2 years ago and moved to Idaho. I have since purchased a Lexus 1999 LX470. I want to say thanks to all the help that this Domestic Full Size forum provided me in the past and it will help my build of my LX.
I have been on some real goat trails. The advantage of a GM is that the parts to upgrade are so cheap and readily available at local junkyards, that it makes sense to upgrade. But I do see your point. I see many jacked up trucks here with zero mud on them, the driver is obviously compensating...
True, but the cost for even a roached out square body Burb are climbing rapidly. I may have a lead on an 88 GMC Burb with 1-ton running gear, but I"m saving up for a down payment on a house.
The one I looked at was a 454 model. Silverado package. The current owner is asking waaaaaay too much for it however. I don't think they're serious about a sale, at least not yet. For now, I'm saving up my dough to buy a house here so I'm going to have to put a couple potential projects on hold.
Hi all,
Been a very busy past few months: selling the Suburbillac, moving back to Idaho to be closer to family and the learning curve of a new job. I was looking at a 95 Suburban of the GMT400 vintage.
Question is, do you all know of a good resource website on GMT400 trucks? I like to fully...
