Man, why am I just finding all these posts.
I placed my deposit in July/August and they went dark in October.
Finally got them to respond after contacting Overland Expo to let them know they had some crooks at their shows.
Noel assured me all was well and my camper would be done by thanksgiving.
Got the call at Christmas that it was ready.
Went to Cincinnati for install on 12/30 and brought donuts for all the guys in the shop.
Walked in and it was not the correct color.
First, Noel tried to convince me it was a clear coat issue. Finally they agreed to build me a whole new camper and let me use this one until it was ready.
I was reluctant but also a little shell shocked.
I drove it home in the rain with:
No shelf
No crash bars
No air dam
No battery
No curtains
No Hard Hat (work topper)
No brake light
And it was wet inside when I got home.
It didn’t latch right.
The rear hatch rattled.
There were 2” long screws hanging out waiting to snag you when you jumped out of bed.
The caulk on the roof was atrocious.
The led strip lights were peeling off.
The paper wire chases were deformed and crushed from the unit closing.
The roof hatch would not stay open.
The wires were not “run elegantly” to the side of the camper where my power source is. (Noel’s words)
No room for ANY bedding as the roof collapsed the bedding and springs with nothing up there. And the unit still bowed open when latched. I was assured that would “settle down”… when the mattress and springs failed.
Upon arrival I was asked if I received “the F-150 Speech”….
That was when I was alerted to the fact that their “laser scanned millimeter accuracy” meant that I would not be able to exit my $18,000 camper without opening a window, reaching out to lower the tailgate, closing the window, and then opening the rear hatch.
Heaven forbid my truck battery died or my electric tailgate failed, because I would be trapped inside with no operable doors.
This POS was on my truck for less than five hours before I messaged them that I was bringing it back.
The worst part was that they didn’t even ask me why. When I arrived back in Cincinnati, they just said “let’s open the shop door and get you in to remove it”.
It took an hour before anyone even asked me why I was bringing it back.
And never once did they show any remorse or humility for six month debacle.
I started a Facebook group and immediately got three other people with similar stories.
Even earlier deposits and no communication.
Rest assured: it is not first come first served. They are building shoddy campers for the squeakiest wheels and still collecting deposits at shows and ignoring people.
Great concept, nightmare execution and absolutely ZERO business ethics.
Buyer beware.
