My memory is not the best either, now that you mention it I seem to remember 2 different styles of extended jeep that year, one with wider middle doors and one with narrower modified middle doors. That route probably would have made my life far easier, but I’m thick headed and do things my own way if it’s easy or not. Oh well.

The sema jeep I posted has front door length rear doors, and they are a good bit longer than regular rear doors. I want to say my jeep is 20” longer than a regular 4 door, 14 inches in the rear body and 6 in the doors.

I also thought about putting the fixed glass piece that’s behind the glass in a 4 door in front of the glass and modifying the factory glass, but I like running soft doors and I don’t have the time to build one set of custom doors… much less 2!

Like any project this is a continuous process so things will change and improve as time goes on.

Luckily jscherb didn’t see my top modifications, they work, but they would in no way match his quality!

I don't need to see your hardtop modifications, you get full credit just for doing this project!

So I read a lot of your posts about top
Modification. Made sure I got the proper SMC rated adhesives. Learned how to cut and dissemble the factory hard tops. Found out the freedom panels have a fairly significant downslope so I made a layered mid panel with pieces of the 4 door top and the freedom panels from a 2 door top. Got everything laid out and glued together with appropriate clamps and let it dry overnight.

And found out I got one side one inch too short.

So I put a pie cut across the layered part and started over again 🙄

Eventually I will pull it and sand it down and use some smc filler I have to make it pretty but it’s mostly waterproof and wind proof for now (I mean jeeps leak a little no matter what you do!)

Luckily no one can see the roof from ground level easily?

This is the big problem besides the width

I really wanted to be able to put a soft top on it but it’s just not wide enough

I tried to do a modular 3 piece solution but I couldn’t get it to seal. Now it’s only removable in one piece like a bronco top, but the front freedom panels work as designed.
