    2019 F350 6.2L 4WD build thread; HPI flatbed, ATO AterraXL composite camper, Carli/King, 37s, 4.88s, etc

Failures are not common on the 2017+ trucks. Could be age or design improvement. Our hubs work perfectly. If they fail we will look at Warn hubs. But no reason to replace something that works. And rather convenient. Happy with them so far. Same with the unit bearings. I like them. No...

Tired of Old Junk but no Interest in Newer 4x4s

Better MPG. More power. Less weight. No head gasket issues. High mileage examples becoming more common with time passing. People defending the old engines is funny. Reminds me of the die hard 23r/re guys. I owned several. All of them needed ongoing adjustments and rebuilds. 3RZ worlds...

Tired of Old Junk but no Interest in Newer 4x4s

Have you driven the new Tacoma? We have a 2021 Tacoma Manual extended cab. It's fantastic for what it is. Crazy mindless reliable for the first year. Toyota pays all maintenance for 2yrs. We bought it new for $35k (dealers will negotiate manuals on their lot - be willing to travel). It...

Why the hub hate? Ours have worked well for 2 years including rock crawling. VAC actuation is nice for shift on the fly. Thought about changing them out but they work fine. Did yours fail?

2020 Ford F250 on 37s - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

CJC Off Road - CJC-FSBCT 14MM-1.5 I'm sure most tire shops would have something that works as well.

Solid tire choice for sure. Made in Japan. Quality. We are happily rolling on ours after 2 years and lots of hard use. May look to replace them next year.... Will see. MT Baja Boss are an interesting tire; just not convinced on the quality compared to these. Hope your insurance can help...

2020 Northstar Liberty - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

Couple ideas to try... leave the bed window(s) in "vent mode" and the max air fan vent open slightly. It will allow some air movement especially when the heater kicks on. We sleep with our heads towards the rear of the camper in extreme cold which helps to significantly reduce moisture build...

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

Can't believe this post is nearly 30 pages... people are so obsessed with MPG and fuel economy numbers. This is ridiculous for an off road / overland vehicle where the first upgrades absolutely RUIN the fuel mileage: off road tires, lift, added weight, campers/canopies/trailers... If you...

    Power Wagon vs F250 Tremor

We have suspension (springs and shocks) tuned for our loaded camper weight. No sway bars. It handles extremely predictably and controlled on road. Way way way better off road or any sort of on road variance that requires suspension movement (such as bumps, holes, driveways, etc). Sway bar...

    Power Wagon vs F250 Tremor

Get some HD tuned King or Fox shocks. Then ditch the sway bar. Perma disconnect. HAHA

Ford Tremor - Colorado overland/off-road, or Rivian?

Sprinter van would give you much more comfort (both driving and camping), mpg and much shorter (with 144WB). 4WD is decent (plus ARB real locker available). But much better driver than any full size truck. Go drive one... Electric battery technology is poor at best. Off road you'll be lucky...

2020 Northstar Liberty - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

Another interesting idea from Grizzly N Bear... they installed the diesel heater to pull fresh air from outside (exterior) and push the heated air inside. Essentially pressurizing the camper.... This allowed them to leave a window vented and create constant airflow. Good idea for a small...

2020 Northstar Liberty - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

I understand your logic. But that's not what our experience has been. Diesel heaters vented outside (same as propane) will reduce moisture inside. No need for a dehumidifier. And there are many others who have discovered and reported the same thing. But don't believe me. Test it for...

Looking for opinions on AEV Prospector XL

TRX is a cool truck but doesn't make sense for a camper build. Basically ruins the purpose of the truck. I'd look to tow a trailer with it. Then you could unhook and enjoy the truck as it was intended. Building a camper rig... you would be money and functionality ahead to sell the TRX and...

2020 Northstar Liberty - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

I'd stay away from this. Still has the problem of burning propane. Not efficient. WTR rarely camp in cold weather. The one video they stay in the snow was requiring their propane bottle to be refilled every day and they were lowering the roof to limit heat loss. Propane is just not the best...

You are correct. Both heater designs are vented outside. However, you are not correct on the dry heat of the diesel heater. We've been using one for 3 months (as primary heat source) everyday. It absolutely dries out the air. No condensation on windows. It is extremely effective drying...

Looking for opinions on AEV Prospector XL

Interesting discussion regarding MPG for $100k trucks... Not much logic there! Your camper choice is no issue on your current truck. Suspension improvements will be needed on any vehicle (HD trucks ride poorly too). These "light" camper setups are frequently found on "small" trucks like...

2020 Northstar Liberty - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

Our Dometic heater has worked fine so far. We've been up around 9k foot... It's been trouble free. But propane creates moisture. The heater is oversized for the camper. Which is fine for quick heat up but terrible for maintaining temperature. It's noisy. And rather thirsty (considering run...

2020 Northstar Liberty - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

@dayHiker - Thanks for the update! Glad your updated setup is working well. A diesel heater may resolve your condensation issues and increase cold weather comfort. They can run continuously on low with around 1amp power draw and use about 1 gallon of fuel per 24 hrs. Extremely quiet...

2020 Northstar Liberty - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

Appreciate the encouragement! We do hope to help share ideas and inspiration. I agree on the popup camper! We enjoyed ours especially the low overall travel height (8ft on the Tundra). We are now just under 11ft (including the vents). But can't beat the comfort. My wife wouldn't trade...
