Thinking of switching it up. ZJ only, no trailer.

Oh yea, the best thing that happened to me recently is picking up a front runner 40l tank from wil at Sierra. That thing crries the weight as low as you can go and fills in the void that used to be the rear footwells. Next is rotopak on the swing out tire carrier.

Thinking of switching it up. ZJ only, no trailer.

I am running a Cherokee with eeziawn rtt. I only used 2 Thule bars on the stock roof rack tracks all summer and it worked. I broke one Thule tower but they warranted it. I think I broke the tower in Gonzaga bay when my shoddy bracket that was holding my ARB awning gave out and put all of the...

I Leaked All Over Colorado's Face!

Outstanding effort! Thanks for putting in the work. We all know it is more fun to trip than it is to trip report but Thousands of views mean that others enjoy the trip rather than just a hand full.

What type of trailer is this?

Worst case, you could turn it into a hot dog cart and sell weenies...

    Moab/Canyon Lands spring 2010 with plan B's

We only took on 4gallons of the high dollar stuff. I should have filled all of the gas cans in Moab but I only filled 2 of them. Jeep got somewhere around 12mpg off road somewhere around 16.5 on the hwy fully loaded. Jeep is 4.0 with 33x12.5 and 4.56 gears.

    Moab/Canyon Lands spring 2010 with plan B's

I thought about a spot before the trip. In the future I will likely get one but I hadn't done enough research to spend the money. We weren't out of cell coverage for longer than a couple of days at a time. Our families could have reported our general location if we failed to check in. I carry...

    Moab/Canyon Lands spring 2010 with plan B's

I don't really prefer to explore alone, but if that is how it works out it won't stop us from going. It is pretty easy to find people who want to go on adventures but finding people who can get 9 days off in a row and also have money for gas and toys is a real trick!

    Moab/Canyon Lands spring 2010 with plan B's

We explored for a couple of more days after that and really really enjoyed the area. I understand why it is so popular now and can't wait to go back! :1888fbbd:

    Moab/Canyon Lands spring 2010 with plan B's

All of the moisture in the night made for a clean jeep and some water on the trail. Then more clouds on the horizon. Then some white stuff all three of these pictures were taken within about three hours of each other.

    Moab/Canyon Lands spring 2010 with plan B's

Sunset was beautiful and calm. We didn't expect a downpour to hit us since we were gazing at the stars right before we zipped the tent. View from camp after a beautiful and rainy night.

    Moab/Canyon Lands spring 2010 with plan B's

I thought this was a tight squeeze at the time(notice the mirrors folded in) but I saw a post in the full size forum where a 2500HD chevy went through the same space... Then we hiked the joint trail.

After finally obtaining a back country overnight permit for Needles district, we set off up Elephant hill.

More to follow... This is hard work. I now appreciate the effort people have put into the trip reports that I so enjoy reading.

    Moab/Canyon Lands spring 2010 with plan B's

We finally managed to gain insight on the permit process for Canyon Lands. Turns out that the roads in the Maze district were mostly all impassable because it was early in the season still so plan B sprung into action. Needles district was open and had permits available. We explored Lavender...

    Moab/Canyon Lands spring 2010 with plan B's

From there, I decided to take my girlfriend on some slick rock. She has never been on anything more difficult than Broken Arrow in Sedona, AZ so she was a bit nervous! Baby Lions back seemed to be her limit at first and Fins and things was a step beyond her limit, but she relaxed...

    Moab/Canyon Lands spring 2010 with plan B's

I am posting a trip for the first time so I am learning as i go but... I was inspired by a post by LilKJ to explore the Maze district of Canyon Lands. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32498&highlight=maze+district The decision was to tackle this adventure over our spring...

    2004 Silverado HD expedition project

I am running h2 wheels and tires on an 03 silver ado crew cab short bed with fabtech 6 in lift. I actually dropped from 35x 12.5 bfgs to the more narrow hummer set up because my lift makes the spindles stick out more so the tires were about 3.5 in wider than the fenders. The look was ok but any...

    08 Silverado in Moab

I really can't believe that you fit through the gap on elephant hill! I feel silly for folding the mirrors in on my Cherokee now. I still couldn't imagine taking my full size chevy through there though. The torsion bar ride on my 03 2500 makes me keep the windows rolled so I don't bounce my...
