    Runs poorly on 93 octane

I can see your point to a degree... But it does not make sense that it ran so poorly. A little hesitation here and there, sure. But it was barely making it up hills. Keeping in mind, that I probably need new spark plugs and that it may enhance the "compression issue" to a point that it runs...

    Runs poorly on 93 octane

I believe it may be a little bit of a "bad gas" issue. I am inclined to think it has something to do with my spark plugs all things considered though. Next week I am pulling the old plugs out and I will let you guys know for sure.

    Runs poorly on 93 octane

Have you been drinking or did you take a tactless pill? So I need a custom tune to run 6 octane points higher? LOL come on man.... At least research what you're about to discuss.

Mystery Engine/Exhaust Problem in '95 Montero LS (HELP!)

What kind of plugs and wires are you using? You wont see much of a spark if they aren't grounded in the block properly. Having them out of the block and running juice to them may damage the coils. I'd suggest using an ignition tester. As far as the protrusion specs go, I wouldn't be much help on...

Mystery Engine/Exhaust Problem in '95 Montero LS (HELP!)

ALWAYS put a new tensioner in when you change timing belts. Who knows when the last time it was replaced.

    Runs poorly on 93 octane

It's the same gas I put in the Infiniti G35. I have some NGK platinum plugs and some Denso wires I will be installing next week. I'm sure it needs some attention to the ignition system. I guess old plugs won't ignite premium fuels as well as regular? I'd think it would be the other way...

    Runs poorly on 93 octane

You read it right!! I decided to treat my 95 Monty LS with premium and it got really mad at me. Hesitation, hiccups, and just angry at me! drained most of it to put in the G35 and filled up the Monty with 87 octane. Ran just fine afterward. Darnest things sometimes.... Any thoughts on this?

Mystery Engine/Exhaust Problem in '95 Montero LS (HELP!)

Have you tested the fuel pressure regulator? It's very possible that could be the culprit. Also, check the fuel pump as well. A faulty fuel pressure regulator can cause the fuel pump to get weak, especially with 200,000 miles on it. You should probably have them both changed if you find one is...

    Buying Advice

Check the resistance in the solenoid. Should be 45 ohms. If not replace it. I'll almost bet my right arm that's what it is. Part number is MB620532. Its called a valve free wheel clutch solenoid.(comes as a pair) Cost about 100 bucks. This is original mitsu part. Hope this helps.

    91 Montero Tech Info Request

It honestly sounds like an electrical issue. If it was mine, I'd say that someone forgot to hook something up. or left the transmission switch in the hold position. What year monty did the transmission come out of? If it came out of a later model one, you may need to hook a transmission mode...

    Buying Advice

I think the winter package= rear locker. Lower mileage is always better especially if the one just had a catalytic converter replaced. Most cats that go bad are either fuel related or are due to head gasket leaking coolant. It will cost less in the long run with the white one sir. JMHO.

    utility rack style for overlanding?

You can stack with side rails. If a strap does fail to hold then you have the side rail to hold it in place. Not to mention the stability a side rail offers to kept something from loosening up in the first place especially if you are off road. If you do a lot of bumpy trails, it'd be a mistake...

    XTerra questions

The rear locker will get you out of some tough spots. You'd be surprised to see what an open diff 4wd vehicle will get stuck on. IMHO it's worth getting the offroad model just for that.

    SOFpirate's 1996 Montero LS buildthread.

I have 32s on mine and I am thinking that 33s would be as high as I'd go without changing the gears out. If you do decide to go 35s without regearing, let me know how it does.

Rear axle seal leak (general question) on a Tacoma

If it is leaking, it will only continue to leak. With 170,000 miles you should go ahead and replace the bearings. Since you are at it, the best thing to do would be replace the seal and bearing on the other side. I will bet when you check the other side, it will be leaking too.

    Why does my mileage suck?

To be honest, you can run transmission fluid through the intake as well. (vacuum line) But it smokes out so bad, it WILL blind other drivers if they are behind you. :Wow1: It's an old mechanic's prank to slip a little black can under one of you co-workers intakes and hook a vacuum line into it...
