Should I ditch the auto hubs for manual?

You shouldn't, but I carry a set of the original hubs with me just in case there is a failure. They a very simple to install on the trail.

Should I ditch the auto hubs for manual?

DO IT. It puts less wear on the front drivetrain and since there is less resistance it should allow better fuel mileage. I did mine a few days ago and I feel I did the best thing. I am sure a few other people will chime in with some more useful information.

    Why does my mileage suck?

That is true. Even at stock vehicle height, anything above 60 mph and the mpg starts to decrease dramatically. Oh yeah, most gas now a days has at least 10% ethanol which will decrease fuel efficiency by as much as 3 to 4 mpg for some people.

    Why does my mileage suck?

Oh yeah, typically an engine makes the most power just before it's dead. I mean so long as everything is in proper running order. Consider the break in period of most vehicles and the fact that it take a few thousand miles to get the most efficiency out of it. Also, Drag racing cars are at there...

    Why does my mileage suck?

off-roader, wouldn't you want to find the difference first? I mean, shouldn't you subtract the actual tire size from the factory size. Then.... oh nevermind. use this http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html By its calculations, the new tire is around 11 percent different in...

    Why does my mileage suck?

You may want to consider the fact that you tires have a larger circumference therefore it may seem as though you have not gone as far as you actually have but using the same amount of fuel. Larger tires throw off the speedometer AS WELL as the odometer. You have to factor in the difference.

Those are nice rigs. I'm very partial to my Monty, but I'd drive one of those for sure.

That sounds like cv axles to me. As far as vibration, I'd check to see if the tires were properly balanced. I just changed out my cv axles with some from autozone. They are remanufatured but so are most available and at 59 dollars each it was a great deal. BTW they have a lifetime warranty.

I'd say whatever is worn out to replace. Definitely need to put some manual locking hubs up there though. Saves a lot of wear and tear on the front drive train. I just did it to mine when I replaced the front axles. Should also give you a bit better gas mileage due to less resistance. BTW love...

    1995 Montero SR Build

I noticed that same trend with mine. I have flushed out the coolant system completely in mine to include taking the heater hoses off the heater core and flushing it individually and it has only helped minimally. It gets warmer on the driver side than on the passenger side, so to accommodate the...

    35's NO LIFT

I say put em on and see how it goes.... Never know till you try. You may experience something different than others here. I will say the offset of the tire needs to be 2.5 inches or around that. Or get some spacers. (that's what I did to fit 32x11.5s)

Newbie MONTERO Help...LS vs. SR - Will a NOVICE Really know the difference?? Gen I??

Since we are being technical, you should say RPM, not RPMs since it is revolutions per minute and not revolutions per minutes.;)
