Awesome progress. I am personally torn between the Toyo R/T and M/T (as well as 13.5 vs 12.5 due to packaging on my truck).
Keep chugging away, looks great.
I have the eagle eyes and wish I would have known to seal them before installation. Mine showed condensation after the first rain they encountered. I will be sealing them up well when I get a chance. For the cost savings compared to OEM, I'm not complaining.
Looking good. Love those wheels. I went to their website and they look to offer some different offsets than what you mentioned. This wheel in a -44 with a 12.5 wide tire would clear my leafs perfectly. Interesting...
I don't want to hijack this thread, but I've got some insight here.
I have had the same issue as you since I have owned my Excursion. Whenever trying to research fitment, there is a ton of discussion among various message boards about "lift required" to fit X size wheels, without real...
Nothing too notable going on with the build. Updated the front end to the 05-07 style. This is well documented on other forums so I won't get into much detail. Here is a before and after:
Also added a 20" lightbar while I was at it. Grabbed a rocker switch from otrattw along with a...
Chris, looking great. I am very jealous. Any updates for the interior platform?
From what I understand, they are pretty reliable if cared for properly over the life of the vehicle. That being said, just get aftermarket. They are cheap and reliable. They also eliminate a potential failure mode...
Maybe if it was a 7.3, I have the V10. People worship the 7.3, but for my current needs, the V10 is a great powerplant.
However, the body is relatively rust-free. It will eventually be powered by a 6bt. I don't plan on getting rid of it any time soon :smiley_drive:
Perhaps your lenses are a bit worn/foggy. A popular upgrade for the 99-04 is to upgrade to the 05 grill and headlights, which were refreshed in 05. The headlights should actually be better on your 05 compared to the earlier model years. Rockauto and eBay both have headlights for reasonable...
Agreed on your points about the forums. Pirate is a wealth of information, but the people who frequent there are a bit more hardcore, for sure. I also find myself perusing more threads here as well.
Keep up the build. Your clean decisions and work is enjoyable to follow.
I dream of dropping...
What PSI were you at when you got stuck? This past fall I ventured out on the beach alone and was a bit nervous. So much so that I actually bought some traction mats just in case. I aired down to 18 PSI and had no issues at all.
Looking forward to more updates.
Looking good. I'm in need of at least a new driver seat, but would like more. Where did you source your seats? Were they a direct bolt-in? Was the wiring too difficult? Sorry for all of the questions.
