    Need FJ Cruiser advice

Nailed it - I pretty much always end up being an echo for guys like Lee, Corey, Dave, and Gary. Maybe it's because they're responsible for my FJ purchase, warts and all. My still-stock FJC doesn't hold a candle to all of theirs, but I have enjoyed it immensely. :coffeedrink: Bought my '08 used...

Putting stuff where the spare used to be

Hmmm... I guess it would depend on what kind of terrain you're going to travel through. The idea to use the underside of the vehicle for storage isn't necessarily a bad one, but I would tend to think that any piece of 'vital' equipment that might fit under a vehicle (like the spare tire, fuel...

    Coleman Instant Tent?

Also of note on the Amazon description for the rainfly... It says the rainfly creates a 'spacious vestibule outside' that is 'perfect for stowing shoes and other gear'. Um, how do I put this?... It doesn't. I'm sure that's the description that Coleman provided to Amazon, but even the picture on...

    Coleman Instant Tent?

FYI; The Coleman P/Ns for those rainflys shown at the top of the instruction sheet are (from left to right) 2000010327, 2000010328, 2000010330, and 2000010331. I'm not sure why there are 4 rainfly P/Ns when Coleman only lists 3 models in their Instant Tent line. :camping: On a side note, I was...

    M101A2 Trailer Purchase & Project

Flush-mounted is great if you can fit them and the rubber grommet will make them virtually shockproof. The standard 6.5" oval lights you see mounted in rubber grommets mostly have large connector shrouds on the rear that you don't normally see. Even with a right-angle wire connection this gives...

    Coleman Instant Tent?

FYI: It has a bag of the same dinky stakes that came with the tent itself, and the same style of attached tie-down lines.

Just found out I should be getting the 6-man rainfly today. Not sure if I will have a chance to get it out this weekend, but I'll post a picture of the packaging anyway since no one has seen this thing yet...

Does someone make an awning with add on enclosure sides?

And Hannibal does as well, but for some reason their U.S. site is being reported as UNSAFE by my antivirus software. Here's adventureduo's thread showing the upgrades to their SoCal Krawler teardrop trailer featuring the Hannibal 1.8M (6ft) vehicle awning -...

Skersfan's New Shuttle Pod Trailer Build...

It's official, Bob. You just thought you were building a trailer, when in reality you were adding a new member to your family, lol. I'd guess your trailer probably has one of the highest SAF ratings (Spousal Acceptance Factor) I've ever seen for anything on two wheels.

Scary - amazing he survived.... Acetylene bottle in the back of a Toyota FJ

This was big news on the FJ Forum when it happened. Then I believe the post was deleted at that member's request due to the pressure from the insurance company. Of course, once the pictures get on the net they'll always be out there.

What ONE piece of recovery gear will you never leave home without?

#1 - Gloves. The number of uses goes way beyond recovery needs. #2 - A cheap Tow Strap or Snatch Strap, probably from Tractor Supply/Harbor Freight/Northern Tool. Used for your vehicle, someone else's vehicle, a downed tree, moving a rock, whatever. With no other options you could hang it on a...

Jerry can Vs. good ol' plastic can.

Sho' 'nuff. Not sure about U.S. distribution or pricing, but here's the website - http://www.gasca.se/ I understand the original 'Fuel' version was for hip, globe-hopping DJs to carry all their vinyl LPs without getting them damaged. Later they came out with the 'Diesel' model which is split...

    Coleman Instant Tent?

I gave up on the 'Tex a couple years ago. Already knew everything about my Mk3 VR6 and the place had started seeming more like a high school name-calling contest than a real forum to me. Anyway, welcome to ExPo. I look forward to seeing more of your setup and travels.
